Pepper prices today in the domestic market remained stable in some key localities, trading from 69,000 - 72,500 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 69,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in Dong Nai province (70,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong, Dak Lak (70,500 VND/kg); Binh Phuoc (72,000 VND/kg) and Ba Ria - Vung Tau are at the highest level of 72,500 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today are unchanged from the same time yesterday. Trading is suspended during the National Day holiday.
The market recorded positive transactions at the beginning of the week before Vietnam entered the holiday season. At the end of the week, pepper prices tended to decrease as the USD continuously recovered, reducing the demand for goods in the world and affecting the export prices of pepper in other countries.
In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam's pepper export volume reached 183,900 tons, up 14.5% over the same period in 2022; turnover reached 600 million USD, down 15.9% over the same period in 2022.
Vietnam's average pepper export price in August increased for the third consecutive month and reached a 10-month high of 3,748 USD/ton. With the export volume equal to the output of the entire crop this year, experts predict that there will not be much inventory left in the domestic market.
Previously, according to records, Vietnam's pepper exports in July reached 15,275 tons, worth 56.9 million USD, down 28.2% in volume and 25.8% in value compared to June 2023; down 18.3% in volume and 27.7% in value compared to July 2022.
Cumulative pepper export volume in the first 7 months of the year reached 167,922 tons, an increase of 25,697 tons, or 18.1% over the same period last year.
However, export turnover decreased by 15.4% (98.3 million USD) to 540.2 million USD, according to data from the General Department of Customs.
Vietnam's average pepper export price in July reached 3,731 USD/ton, up 3.2% over the previous month and the highest price in the past 9 months, but still down 11.6% over the same period.
In the first 7 months of the year, the average export price of pepper reached 3,217 USD/ton, down 28.3% over the same period in 2022.
In the export structure, whole black pepper accounts for more than 80% of the total pepper export volume of our country in the first 7 months of the year with 135,028 tons.
Next is ground black pepper with 15,000 tons, accounting for 8.9% of the proportion; whole white pepper reached 12,683 tons, accounting for 7.5%; the remaining 2.5% is ground white pepper and 0.7% is pickled pepper, black pepper, nail head pepper, green pepper, pink pepper...
