Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of May 9, 2025 |
According to experts, the sideways price of pepper reflects the cautious sentiment of businesses and traders in the context of the market looking for new signals from domestic consumption and export demand in major markets.
In the world market, pepper prices have not fluctuated much, many countries have stable prices, except for the Indonesian market which has decreased again.
In the medium and long term, pepper prices are expected to remain high thanks to stable demand from major consumer markets such as the US, EU, and the Middle East, along with supply showing no signs of increasing strongly again.
According to data from the Customs Department, in the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 73,647 tons of pepper, earning 508.36 million USD. Although output decreased by 11.3% compared to the same period in 2024, the value increased sharply by 44.4% due to the average export price of pepper in the 4 months reaching 6,903 USD/ton, an increase of 62.7%. In April 2025 alone, pepper price reached 6,968 USD/ton, down slightly by 0.5% compared to the previous month but still 57.1% higher than the same period last year.

The Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that world pepper prices fluctuated quite strongly in April: after decreasing in the first half of the month, prices recovered at the end of the month, although they were still lower than the end of the previous month.
According to the Import-Export Department, pepper prices increased due to a decrease in supply after the harvest and farmers holding onto their stocks waiting for higher prices. Meanwhile, the world market remained stable at a high level, creating momentum to push up domestic prices. Experts said that if demand from major markets such as the Middle East and Europe continues to increase strongly in the second quarter of 2025, pepper prices could continue to climb.
