The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the USD today (July 29) was adjusted up 24 VND compared to the previous session, to 25,206 VND/USD. This is the highest level of the central exchange rate ever.
Applying a 5% margin, commercial banks are allowed to trade today at a ceiling rate of VND26,466/USD and a floor rate of VND23,946/USD.
The reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam today was also adjusted up 23 VND for buying and 25 VND for selling, to 23,996-26,416 VND/USD (buying - selling).

At commercial banks, the USD price this morning was also adjusted to increase sharply.
USD buying and selling prices at commercial banks were adjusted up with a common range of 62-93 VND compared to the previous session.
On the buying side, banks simultaneously raised the greenback price to over 26,000 VND/USD. On the selling side, the USD price at some banks reached 26,400 VND/USD, the highest level ever.
Specifically, compared to yesterday morning, the USD price this morning (July 29) at Vietcombank increased by 80 VND in both buying and selling, raising the USD cash buying price to 26,010 VND/USD, the selling price is 26,400 VND/USD.
Similarly, the greenback price at BIDV also increased by 80 VND in both directions, to 26,040-26,400 VND/USD (buy - sell).
USD price at VietinBank increased to 26,031-26,391 VND/USD (buy - sell), up 63 VND in buying and 93 VND more expensive in selling.
At private commercial banks, the USD price was also adjusted to a new high.
Techcombank increased the USD price by 62 VND for buying and 63 VND for selling compared to yesterday morning, bringing the USD cash buying price to 26,015 VND/USD and the selling price to 26,411 VND/USD.
Sacombank also increased the USD price to 26,024-26,384 VND/USD (buy - sell), 64 VND more expensive in both directions compared to yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, the USD price on the free market today fluctuated little. This morning, the free USD was bought and sold at transaction points in the price range of 26,380-26,460 VND/USD, unchanged from the previous session.
In the world market, the USD price also tends to go up.
The US Dollar Index (a measure of the greenback's strength against other major currencies) was at 98.68 points at 12:12 on July 29 (Vietnam time), up 0.04% from the previous session.
The US dollar rose, boosted by the US-EU trade deal, bringing certainty to the market.
The US-EU framework trade agreement announced on July 27 agreed on a 15% US import tariff on most EU goods.
