After a strong increase in the previous session, the world gold price at the early afternoon of June 5 (Vietnam time) is showing signs of a slight decrease, anchored at 3,364 USD/ounce.

Earlier, disappointing economic data pushed gold prices to a four-week high; however, April’s all-time high of $3,500 an ounce may be the best it can get – at least for now, according to one market strategist.

Carley Garner, co-founder of brokerage firm DeCarley Trading, said in an interview with Kitco News that while she is currently neutral on gold, she is looking to sell at higher prices. Garner’s comments come as gold gains significant upside momentum, fueled by economic uncertainty and geopolitical volatility that have fueled safe-haven demand. While gold remains an attractive long-term asset, she said the precious metal has gone too far, too fast.

Garner also extended her contrarian view to the U.S. dollar and Treasurys, as she sees both assets as oversold. She noted that speculative futures and options positions are at historically bearish levels for the U.S. dollar and long-term bonds.
