On the morning of May 13, gasoline prices continued to increase by more than 1 USD, Brent oil increased by 1.05 USD, equivalent to 1.6%, to 64.96 USD/barrel; WTI oil increased by 93 cents, equivalent to 1.5%, to 61.95 USD/barrel. Thus, both benchmark oil products reached their highest closing levels in about the past half month.

According to Reuters, the US and China have reached an agreement to postpone the application of high tariffs for 90 days, which has pushed many commodity stocks up again. Oil prices increased sharply due to expectations that oil demand will improve in the near future. The US and China are the two largest oil consuming countries in the world .

Analysts said this was a move that cooled the market more than expected and expressed optimism in the coming time, even though the negotiation process may still face many challenges.

Domestic gasoline prices are about to increase again

In response to the initial results of the US-China tariff negotiations, Saudi Arabia's Aramco - the largest oil producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) - expressed its expectation that oil demand will stabilize this year and forecast that demand will increase further if the two countries resolve their trade dispute. Meanwhile, in Iraq, OPEC's second largest oil producer, updated information showed that the country's crude oil exports fell to about 3.2 million barrels per day in May and June, a significant decrease compared to previous months.

However, oil prices were limited in their gains today due to ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran over its nuclear program. According to Reuters, any nuclear deal could ease sanctions on Iran's exports.

Domestically, imported gasoline prices are on the rise compared to domestic prices. Forecasts show that domestic gasoline prices will end their downward trend in the fifth adjustment this week. The highest increase is expected to be 400 VND/liter./.
