According to Reuters, global markets rose and the Euro appreciated after Mr. Trump decided to postpone imposing a 50% tax on goods from the EU.
"Trump's reversal and delay of higher tariffs on the EU, along with his comments on the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on Russia, have partly supported oil prices today," said analyst Giovanni Staunovo from UBS bank.
Trading volumes are expected to be low on Monday due to the Memorial Day holiday in the US.
Brent and WTI both rose on Friday as limited progress in nuclear talks between the US and Iran dashed hopes that Iranian oil would soon return to global markets. US investors also covered positions ahead of the three-day Memorial Day holiday.
Oil prices were also supported by data from energy services firm Baker Hughes, showing that US companies reduced the number of active oil rigs by eight last week, to 465 - the lowest level since November 2021, raising the possibility of tighter supplies in the coming time.
However, gains were capped by expectations that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+), could decide to increase output by 411,000 barrels per day in July at a meeting on Sunday.
Reuters news agency reported this month that OPEC+ could completely lift the remainder of its voluntary cuts of 2.2 million barrels per day by the end of October, after raising its output target by about 1 million barrels per day in April, May and June.
