Border guards coordinated with fishermen to rescue stranded dolphins in Tien Sa port area. |
According to initial information, at around 9am on June 5, the Tien Sa Port Border Guard Station discovered a dolphin washed up by waves at the wharf area. The fish showed signs of exhaustion, with many scratches on its body.
Immediately after arriving at the scene, border guards performed first aid to help the dolphin recover its initial health. The unit then coordinated with a number of fishermen to use a boat to take the fish to deep water far from shore. At around 10 a.m. the same day, the dolphin was released back into its natural environment in deep water offshore, where it could swim normally.
Major Tran The Dung, an inspector and supervisor at the Tien Sa Port Border Guard Station, who directly participated in the dolphin rescue, said: "This is the first time we have recorded a stranded dolphin in the Tien Sa Port area. The initial cause is believed to be that the dolphin was entangled in fishermen's fishing nets, leading to exhaustion and being washed ashore by waves."
