After three days of competition, the 2025 World Memory Championship in Ho Chi Minh City concluded with Mongolia taking first place, Australia second, and China third. Meanwhile, the "home team" Vietnam finished fourth, followed by Algeria in fifth.
With a total of 14 events, including 10 memory-based events, 3 mind mapping events, and 1 speed reading event, the 2025 World Memory Championship concluded with impressive results.
Notably, this marks the first time Vietnam has applied technology to organizing international-level intellectual sports events. It is also the first time Vietnam has hosted the World Memory Championship, bringing together five top-performing teams.
In the individual events, Vietnam won the gold medal thanks to athlete Dang Ngoc Phuong Trinh. In addition, the Vietnamese team also brought home 11 silver medals and 11 bronze medals.
Representatives of the World Council of Intellectual Sports highly appreciated Vietnam - the host country - as a focal point of the global intellectual community, bringing together outstanding athletes from many countries and territories.
"The tournament is an opportunity for the world's leading minds to compete, share experiences, promote academic exchange, and spread the spirit of scientifically-based memory training."
"I highly appreciate Vietnam, the host country, for organizing the competition in accordance with international standards in terms of expertise, refereeing, facilities, and tournament management... it's very systematic, professional, and shows a long-term vision for intellectual sports," a representative of the World Council of Intellectual Sports commented.
By applying memory training techniques, it is possible to increase reading speed to approximately 1,000 words per minute.
Mehmet Tashanligil, President of the Turkish Council for Intellectual Sports, assessed the widespread impact of this competition on children and young athletes who are just beginning to engage in intellectual exercises. Regarding the Vietnamese team specifically, he noted that, based on his observations, the young Vietnamese athletes demonstrated impressive concentration and mental control abilities.
"Normally, a person can only read about 200 words per minute, but by applying memory and thinking training techniques, within a month, learners can completely increase their reading speed to 800 to 1,000 words per minute, while still maintaining a comprehension level of up to 90%. This is achieved thanks to significantly improved mental energy and concentration."
"When the mind is well-trained, learning and acquiring knowledge becomes much easier," he shared.
