Poverty reduction 'deep in the area, close to the target'

Over the past years, the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction has been implemented synchronously in Tay Ninh, contributing significantly to helping people stabilize their lives, arousing their will to be self-reliant and escape poverty. Not only stopping at short-term support, the program has gradually created positive changes in the socio-economic situation in each residential area and each household, with the motto of approaching "the right area, close to the target", taking the people as the center.

In previous years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien (residing in Hamlet 1A, Thu Thua Commune) was a poor household with unstable income and no capital to invest in production. In 2022, the local authorities considered supporting her with a livelihood worth 10 million VND from the "For the Poor" Fund. Receiving this support, Ms. Hien invested in growing apricot trees on her family's land.

Growing and caring for apricot trees requires perseverance, but with the determination to change her life, Ms. Hien spent all her time learning techniques and taking care of the trees properly. 2 years later, her apricot garden began to generate a stable income. From a poor household, Ms. Hien has risen up to escape poverty sustainably, stabilizing her family's economy .

Now, Ms. Hien has also become a shining example in connecting members, sharing experiences in plant care, income management and family spending planning.

As the Head of the Women's Union of Hamlet 1A, she actively promotes and mobilizes members to access policies, boldly change their livelihoods, and escape poverty. "Being supported in livelihoods is not only being given capital but also being given opportunities and confidence to dare to do and dare to change" - Ms. Hien shared.

The process of implementing poverty reduction requires hamlet cadres to be close to the grassroots, grasp the situation and encourage households to improve. In Binh Luong 2 hamlet, Thu Thua commune, poverty reduction is considered one of the bright spots of the locality.

Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Front Work Committee of Binh Luong 2 Hamlet Nguyen Ngoc Nam said that to sustainably reduce poverty, the Party Committee and the Front system in the hamlet always stay close to the locality, regularly visit each household to learn about the actual situation, grasp the thoughts and livelihood needs of each subject.

The Hamlet Front Committee not only propagates poverty reduction policies to each household but also proactively mobilizes socialized resources and connects businesses to participate. In addition, the close coordination between socio -political organizations under the Vietnam Fatherland Front such as the Youth Union, Women's Union, Farmers' Association, etc. also contributes to improving the effectiveness of the program.

According to Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Thua Commune Nguyen Thu Lan, in recent times, the commune has focused on supporting livelihoods, introducing jobs, vocational training and providing preferential loans for people to improve their self-reliance and create opportunities to escape poverty in the long term.

In addition, the commune builds, develops, and replicates poverty reduction models and projects, supports production development, business, startups, etc. Thereby, creating jobs and livelihoods for poor households, near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households and people living in particularly difficult hamlets.

Sustainable poverty reduction with many synchronous solutions

Identifying poverty reduction as a key task, in recent years, Tan Lan commune has effectively implemented programs and policies to support poor households, creating conditions for people to improve their lives. Thanks to effective mobilization of resources, Tan Lan commune has effectively implemented vocational training programs, introduced jobs and created conditions for people to access preferential capital, while increasing the rate of vocational training each year. Over the past 5 years, the locality has created jobs for nearly 7,000 workers.

Regarding social security work, the Fatherland Front mobilizes members and philanthropists inside and outside the locality to care for and help those in difficult circumstances, so that they can rise up in life.”

According to the report on the implementation results of the objectives, tasks, projects, and components of the National Target Programs for the period 2021-2025, outstanding results have been achieved. In particular, Project 2 on Livelihood Diversification and Poverty Reduction Model Development has deployed support for 338 poverty reduction models and production development projects, with 2,842 poor households, near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households, and people with disabilities who do not have stable livelihoods participating.

The main content of the implementation focuses on livestock models, supporting machinery, equipment and means of production for 1,587 households, helping households improve productivity, expand production and gradually stabilize their lives. Thereby, contributing to realizing the goal of sustainable poverty reduction according to the National Target Program./.
