On the evening of September 13, in the capital Caracas, the Embassy of Vietnam and the Embassy of Cuba in Venezuela jointly organized a meeting and friendly exchange to celebrate the "Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year", commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025) and the 52nd anniversary of the historic visit to Vietnam by Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro (September 1973 - September 2025).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Vu Trung My reviewed the 65-year history of Vietnam-Cuba relations, emphasizing that on December 2, 1960, Vietnam and Cuba officially established diplomatic relations, opening a new page in the history of friendship between the two nations located in the East and West halves of the globe.

Over more than half a century, the special friendship between the two Parties and two countries has been continuously nurtured, consolidated, and developed to new heights, for the benefit of the people and the prosperous development of each country.

In the journey of the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship, the Party, State and people of Vietnam will forever remember the immortal words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood.”

The historic visit of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to Vietnam and the newly liberated area of ​​Quang Tri in September 1973 was an event of profound political significance, encouraging the spirit of the Vietnamese people's resistance, becoming a beautiful symbol of the close brotherly solidarity and loyalty between the two nations and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

Expressing his joy at the important achievements that the Party, State and people of Cuba have achieved in their revolutionary cause, Ambassador Vu Trung My believes that under the leadership of the glorious Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban people will certainly overcome all difficulties and challenges, and continue to gain even greater victories in the cause of building and defending the socialist Cuban Fatherland.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Trung My highly appreciated the effective coordination and cooperation between the two Embassies, which significantly contributed to the implementation of foreign affairs tasks assigned by the two Parties and two States; and sincerely thanked Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez and the Cuban Embassy for their affection, support and effective assistance for the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela.

For his part, Cuban Ambassador to Venezuela Dagoberto Rodríguez affirmed that in contemporary world history, there has rarely been a relationship as special as the relationship between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Cuba.

This good relationship has been carefully cultivated by previous revolutionary leaders José Martí, Fidel Castro, Ho Chi Minh, as well as generations of Cuban and Vietnamese leaders.

It was the national hero José Martí who first sowed the seeds of close friendship between Vietnam and Cuba and the people of the two countries through his work “A walk on the land of the Annamese” published in the magazine “Golden Age” for Cuban children in the late 19th century.

Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro - the student and most excellent successor of the ideology of National Hero José Martí - affirmed that the brotherly friendship between Cuba and Vietnam was born and grew up in the historical similarities of the two peoples fighting together against a common enemy.

Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez expressed his emotion at participating in the exchange activities, which fostered the comradely and brotherly relationship between the two Embassies, a vivid demonstration of the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two Parties and two countries.

Affirming that “the solidarity and brotherhood between Cuba and Vietnam exists at all times and in all places in the world”, Ambassador Dagoberto Rodríguez emphasized that the friendly exchange activities between the two embassies will actively contribute to strengthening and deepening the special relationship between the two countries, and expressed his hope that the embassies of the two countries will always maintain a close, trusting and traditional cooperative relationship, and together contribute to promoting the development of the special Cuba-Vietnam relationship.
