On the morning of May 9, the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Sustainable Forestry Development Target Program of Vinh Cuu district chaired a propaganda session to promote forest fire prevention and control and forest protection for students of Hieu Liem Secondary School (in Hieu Liem commune, Vinh Cuu district).

At the propaganda session, 320 students from grades 6 to 9 of the school were guided to visit the exhibition area of ​​pictures introducing the biodiversity values ​​of forest resources today; rare wild animals (elephants, gaurs, deer, monkeys, birds ...) that need to be protected; prohibited acts of the law (setting fires that spread to the forest; trapping, hunting and trading wildlife products ...). After that, the students also actively participated in the game "quiz with prizes", students who answered correctly the questions of the Organizing Committee will receive gifts. Through the game, officers of Vinh Cuu District Forest Protection Department integrated propaganda on contents related to forest fire prevention and control, forest protection and protection, wildlife protection ... Thanks to this creative approach, the legal propaganda session became more exciting, attractive and highly effective.

Through the propaganda session, she learned a lot about the values ​​of forests and increasingly appreciated and loved forests. Deputy Head of Vinh Cuu District Forest Protection Department Nguyen Ngoc Phuong said that the purpose of organizing propaganda is to help students - the future generation of the country, raise their awareness and responsibility in forest protection, forest fire prevention and control, and wildlife protection. Thereby, helping the forest rangers, forest owners and functional agencies to perform the tasks of forest fire prevention and control and wildlife protection better and better.

Also according to Mr. Phuong, implementing the direction of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Provincial Sustainable Forestry Development Target Program, every year, the Vinh Cuu District Forest Protection Department (the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Vinh Cuu District Sustainable Forestry Development Target Program) advises the District People's Committee to develop a propaganda program for all classes of people, including propaganda for students at schools located in the area (in a rotating form). Thanks to the promotion of propaganda, the work of forest management and fire prevention and control has brought positive results, especially the number of violations in the area has decreased significantly.

The form of dissemination is that the unit coordinates with schools to distribute leaflets with content related to forest protection and forest fire prevention and control.

This is one of the important groups of people, capable of strongly spreading the message of conservation and protection of nature to families and communities.

Specifically, the unit has closely coordinated with schools in the area to organize many extracurricular and communication programs. Organize field trips and practical learning experiences at Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve (where students are introduced to the forest ecosystem, rare animals and plants and the significance of conservation work). Integrate environmentaleducation content into specialized activities at schools through specialized talks, painting competitions, and writing about nature. In addition, the unit also organizes competitions to learn about biodiversity and environmental protection with many rich and lively forms, suitable for each age group of students.

To attract more students to participate and be more interested in conservation activities, the unit has constantly innovated its approach such as: organizing outdoor interactive games, using visual models, small experiments, helping students learn through practical experiences instead of just listening to theory; applying information technology such as creating vivid short video clips, publishing on social networks or showing at schools to spread the message; developing programs such as I love nature, A day as a young forest ranger..., helping students play the role and experience the actual work of a forest ranger...

“The promotion of effective forms of propaganda has significantly improved students’ awareness of the role of forests, wildlife and the living environment. Many students have become “little ambassadors” to spread the knowledge they have learned to their friends and relatives. Moreover, these activities also help strengthen the connection between schools and conservation areas, creating a widespread environmental education network in the community,” Mr. Ha shared.

In order to continue promoting the effectiveness of propaganda work in the coming time, forest management agencies and units have developed plans targeting students. These include expanding the scale of propaganda programs to more schools in the area and neighboring districts; developing environmental education materials specifically for students, suitable for each age group, linked to the main curriculum; enhancing the application of digitalization in conservation education, including building online learning platforms, electronic games with nature protection content; connecting with local youth organizations and unions to organize communication campaigns and actions for the environment...
