In addition, when performing the votive paper burning ceremony, families often prepare a tray of five fruits, hell money, votive paper, incense, flowers, betel and areca nuts, candy, wine, etc. Some places offer two sugarcanes with the idea of letting the ancestors use them as walking sticks or carry offerings to heaven.
