As usual, Ms. Pham Thi Nhu Y (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) still prioritizes choosing Tet gift baskets for her family because of their convenience. “This year’s Tet gift baskets are quite beautiful and eye-catching, with prices ranging from 100,000 - 300,000 VND. Every year, I buy 2 gift baskets for my family, 2 gift baskets for my grandparents, and about 3-4 gift baskets to give to relatives. I find gift baskets convenient, easy to carry, and the prices are also diverse,” Ms. Y said.

Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Van Manh (Cai Rang District, Can Tho City) also prioritizes choosing Tet gift baskets because of their affordable prices. “If you buy individual cakes outside and wrap them up, it will take a lot of time. If you bring a few boxes of cakes as gifts, it will be untidy. This year, I am busy with work, so I order through the app and they deliver it to my door, which is both neat and convenient,” said Mr. Manh.

According to Mr. Manh, when buying Tet gift baskets, you need to choose a reputable place and carefully check the goods. “Because the wine and cakes are wrapped inside the gift basket, it is difficult to check the quality. Therefore, when buying, you should choose a reputable place or someone you know to be safe,” said Mr. Manh.

Fear of "false advertising"

Contrary to her preference for buying Tet gift baskets, Ms. Pham Ngoc Thao (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) is afraid of the trick of “false advertising”. Having also bought Tet gift baskets for her family, Ms. Thao could not help but feel disappointed when opening the gift and seeing that the quality was not as expected.

Ms. Thao said: “The gift box includes 1 bottle of wine, 1 box of coffee, 1 box of cake and 1 bag of imported candy, beautifully packaged, tied with a bow and attached with a greeting card priced at 1 million VND/basket. After I opened the gift, inside were all regular cakes and candies, some boxes were expired, the actual value of the gift was less than 300,000 VND”.

Worried about the "false advertising" trick, Ms. Thao decided to say no to pre-made Tet gift baskets. If she wants to give gifts, she will pack them herself after buying the necessary amount of candy.

“Although buying individual cakes and wrapping them is more time-consuming and expensive, I can check the goods and the expiration date when giving them as gifts, which gives me more peace of mind,” said Ms. Thao.

If necessary, I buy them and wrap them myself. If not, I can buy boxed gifts and candies, which are also beautiful, there is no need to buy gift baskets."

In Can Tho City, according to records at retail stores, Tet gift baskets in 2024 are sold at prices ranging from 100,000 - 300,000 VND, from 200,000 VND to several million VND at supermarkets.
