Maintaining the growing area code - the key to bringing Hoa Binh agricultural products to the world

In order for agricultural products to be eligible for export, maintaining the growing area code and packing facility code in accordance with regulations is a mandatory requirement. Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hoa Binh province has strengthened technical supervision in growing areas and packing facilities in the area to protect the "green passport" of Hoa Binh agricultural products in the international market.

Farmers in Ngoc Luong commune (Yen Thuy) focus on taking care of grapefruit growing areas that have been granted growing area codes.

Since the beginning of the year, in order to effectively manage the growing area codes, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has proactively advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment to issue documents directing and implementing the work of granting, managing and supervising the growing area codes and export packaging facilities in the province. The propaganda and supervision of this field in districts and cities has been strengthened and integrated through technical support activities for cultivation and periodic surveys of harmful organisms in the fields. The Department has organized a training conference on the propaganda of granting, managing and supervising the growing area codes and export packaging facility codes in Kim Boi district. Here, delegates were fully instructed on the process of checking, supervising and maintaining growing area codes and packaging facility codes according to the standards of potential markets.

Along with that, the Department coordinated to inspect and supervise the technical aspects of 5 growing areas and 2 packaging facilities serving export in Tan Lac and Yen Thuy districts. The results showed that 100% of the inspected growing areas complied with current regulations, were eligible to maintain codes, and there were no violations proposed for revocation. The inspected packaging facilities all met technical requirements, maintained factory hygiene, had separate warehouses for storing raw materials and finished products, and had equipment for preliminary processing and packaging in accordance with the instructions of the Plant Protection Department and the requirements of the importing country.

Typically, Binh Minh Rural Development and General Service Cooperative, Tan Huong 1 Clean Grapefruit Growing Cooperative, Dong Lai Commune (Tan Lac), Dai Dong Agricultural Cooperative (Yen Thuy)... have strictly implemented the recording of cultivation diaries, applied technical processes in care, and used fertilizers according to instructions. Compliance with regulations on traceability and recording of production records helps products qualify for export to the UK, US, EU markets...

Thanks to the standard growing area codes and packaging facilities, many of the province's key agricultural products such as Tan Lac red grapefruit, Dien grapefruit, longan, bamboo shoots, etc. have expanded their consumption markets and increased their export value. Comrade Nguyen Hong Yen, Head of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, said: Maintaining the growing area codes not only contributes to improving the quality and reputation of Hoa Binh agricultural products, but is also a mandatory condition for the province's agriculture to deeply integrate with the international market, building concentrated raw material areas for sustainable processing and export. In the coming time, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment as well as the Department will continue to coordinate with localities to organize regular and surprise inspections; instructing owners of growing areas to keep electronic diaries, update national software; at the same time, proposing investment in upgrading preliminary processing and packaging facilities, improving the capacity of grassroots staff, etc.
