At this time, engineers and workers of Song Da 10 Joint Stock Company are divided into many construction teams to "work together" to implement the items of the Deo Ngang road tunnel expansion project. Construction is being carried out simultaneously at both the South and North tunnel entrances.
At the northern tunnel entrance in Ky Nam ward, Ky Anh town, the contractor drilled 270m. After blasting, the rock and soil blocks were transported out by truck. At this time, the steel reinforcement system was erected before spraying concrete to reinforce the tunnel roof.
Once the basement roof has been firmly constructed, the contractor will carry out the next steps. Meanwhile, at the southern tunnel entrance in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province, Song Da 10 Joint Stock Company has also drilled 140m. Because the ground at the southern tunnel entrance was handed over later than the northern tunnel entrance, the construction output is somewhat lower. However, this does not affect the progress of the project much.
According to engineer Lam Van Truong - Construction site commander of Song Da 10 Joint Stock Company, the geological foundation of Deo Ngang tunnel is mainly rocky mountains. Although the construction is somewhat difficult due to the time it takes to blast and remove materials, it is quite favorable for road tunnel construction.
There are some underground water veins in the tunnel, but this is not too worrying. Everything is carefully calculated and planned by the contractor.
The contractor plans to drill through Deo Ngang tunnel by mid-July.
During the construction of Deo Ngang tunnel, a large pipe was installed from the inside to the outside of the tunnel entrance with the task of vacuuming dust, reducing noise, and creating ventilation for construction workers.
However, to ensure safety during construction in low-air environments, workers are equipped with protective equipment, including gas masks.
Along with efforts to speed up tunnel drilling, workers are also preparing to pour concrete for the tunnel roof.
Construction is being carried out very urgently.
The new Deo Ngang Tunnel is one of the projects included in the project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 with a total investment of nearly VND 2,000 billion approved by the Ministry of Construction at the end of December 2023. The new Deo Ngang Tunnel is parallel to the current tunnel. The new tunnel is 555m long and 10.5m wide. According to the plan, the tunnel will be completed and put into operation in 2025. When completed, the Deo Ngang Tunnel will operate 2 parallel tunnels with a roadbed width of up to 20.5m, providing 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles.
Along with the construction of Deo Ngang tunnel, the contractor is also implementing the bridge and access road projects in parallel.
Dong Bo Bridge in the North of Deo Ngang Tunnel has completed 23/28 bored piles, completed M2 pier, T3 pier and is continuing with T2 pier, producing Super T girder. Dong Muoi Bridge is digging foundation pits for M1 and M2 pier. The road section in the North in Ha Tinh province has completed the stone foundation, the South in Quang Binh province is digging the foundation and installing the drainage system along the route.
