Grecale Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore launched in Vietnam

Maserati introduced its first two electric car models in Vietnam on the afternoon of October 31: the mid-size SUV Grecale Folgore priced from VND5.495 billion and the convertible supercar GranCabrio Folgore priced from VND13.314 billion. The suffix Folgore (lightning) will be used by Maserati for the entire electric car line, demonstrating its electrification orientation while still focusing on the company's performance and distinctive design.

Folgore positioning: electrification without compromising performance

According to Maserati, the name Folgore was chosen to emphasize power and speed – two core values of the brand. The launch of Grecale Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore is the first step in the roadmap to transition from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles in Vietnam.

Grecale Folgore: 400V electric SUV, 550 horsepower performance

Grecale Folgore is developed on the traditional Grecale platform, keeping the style with a long front end, closed grille and typical paint colors. The cabin uses recycled Econyl material, arranged with a 12.3-inch central screen, 8.8-inch secondary screen and digital clock cluster. The Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) entertainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

105 kWh battery, 4 driving modes, 0–100 km/h 4.1 seconds

This SUV uses a 105 kWh battery with a 400V electrical architecture. The powertrain produces 550 horsepower and 820 Nm of torque, with four driving modes: Max Range, GT, Sport and Offroad. Grecale Folgore accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Price in Vietnam: 5.495 billion VND.

Positioned in the pure electric luxury mid-size SUV segment, Grecale Folgore competes with German rivals such as Porsche Macan EV (VND 3.48-5.86 billion) and BMW iX3 (VND 3.499 billion).

GranCabrio Folgore: electric soft top, three motors up to 610 kW

The GranCabrio Folgore is an electric version of the Maserati convertible, sharing its platform with the GranTurismo Folgore. The car has a soft top that opens/closes electrically in 14–16 seconds, and can be operated under 50 km/h. The interior uses recycled materials econyl and integrates the VDCM traction and torque control system.

0–100 km/h 2.8 seconds, 150 kW fast charging

The GranCabrio Folgore's three-motor powertrain delivers a total output of 560 kW (751 hp), peaking at 610 kW (818 hp) in MaxBoost mode. Torque of 1,350 Nm accelerates the car from 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The 92.5 kWh battery supports 150 kW fast charging, charging from 20–80% in about 20 minutes. Announced price: 13,314 billion VND.

In Vietnam, the GranCabrio Folgore currently has almost no direct competitors in the luxury electric convertible supercar group. Gasoline-powered options include the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 SE Performance (VND 12.29 billion) and Porsche 911 Cabriolet (from VND 9.64 billion).

Both models emphasize sustainable materials (Econyl) and modern digital interfaces. Grecale Folgore focuses on the convenience of a mid-size SUV with MIA system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and multi-level display cluster. GranCabrio Folgore prioritizes the feeling of driving with the open roof and VDCM traction/torque control, aiming for high performance in many operating conditions.

Price and market: opportunities and challenges

The launch of the Folgore duo shows that Maserati is betting on the high-performance luxury electric vehicle segment. However, challenges in Vietnam include high prices, unpopular charging infrastructure and a narrow customer base. The lack of brand recognition also requires time to reach and convince buyers.

On the same day, October 31, Maserati Vietnam inaugurated a showroom with new standards in Tan Thuan ward, Ho Chi Minh City, and planned to open a service center in Hanoi in early 2026.
