Professor Ta Ngoc Tan: 'It is unimaginable that the country would develop like this'

Professor Ta Ngoc Tan said that after 40 years of renovation, the country has achieved historic results, especially in improving people's lives.

On the morning of October 31, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Central Council of Theory held a scientific workshop to contribute ideas to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress.

Professor, Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan presented a speech on 40 years of innovation and the results of the 13th Party Congress term.

Presenting a paper on 40 years of innovation and the results of the 13th Party Congress term at the workshop, Professor, Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Permanent Deputy Head of the Editorial Team of the 14th Party Congress Documents, said that the report on 40 years of innovation is divided into 6 groups of summary issues, including: general issues, political theory issues; economic , cultural, social, and human issues; national defense and security; foreign affairs; Party building and State administration.

Six groups of issues are in charge of six members of the Politburo, mobilizing the participation of most universities, major research institutes, provinces, cities, and professional agencies, with a serious and scientific research, survey, and workshop process.

Mr. Tan informed that by the end of 2024, the basic summary process will be completed, however, to summarize 40 years of innovation, it will take until the end of 2025. Therefore, all of our activities in 2025 until before the 14th Party Congress are within the scope of 40 years of innovation.

Regarding the content of the report summarizing 40 years of renovation, Professor and Doctor Ta Ngoc Tan noted that the 40-year renovation process, from 1986 to the 14th National Party Congress, must pay special attention to the context of both the world and the country. That is the collapse of the Soviet Union and the socialist system; the world financial crisis; the Covid-19 pandemic...

"Clarifying the context helps us better understand the creativity and determination of our Party and State, especially the people's trust in the Party and the regime to help us overcome challenges," said Mr. Tan.

Perfecting the theory of innovation policy

The second issue Mr. Tan mentioned was the achievements of 40 years of "historic" innovation in terms of economy, society, people, and the country's position in the international arena, especially innovations related to fundamentally improving and enhancing people's lives.

Mr. Tan cited that from 70% of the population living below the poverty line, now only 1% of households are poor. From an average income of 92 USD/person, it is now about 5,100 USD/person. From a GDP of only 89 billion USD, it is now nearly 500 billion USD. From only 5% of foreign trade with the world, it has now reached about 700 billion USD in import and export with other countries...

"Especially the people's lives. Each of us has experienced life from the post-war period to the border war period, then the difficult period before renovation. Up to now, we can say we cannot imagine the country developing like this, renewing life like this. Those are the great values ​​we have achieved," Mr. Tan clearly stated.

The third issue in summarizing 40 years of renovation is the construction, formation and gradual improvement of the theory of the renovation path. This theory of the renovation path is the result of the process of ideological and cognitive struggle. The struggle to be loyal to Marxism-Leninism; the struggle to be loyal to the path of following socialism...

"It can be said that this process brings about our revolutionary awareness in the process of building and developing the country. For example, economic development, from a single-sector economy to now developing a multi-sector economy, or perfecting the socialist rule of law state...", Mr. Tan stated.
