Professor Nguyen Trung Viet officially takes on new duties

On May 6, in Hanoi , the announcement ceremony of the decision to recognize the Rector of Thuyloi University for the 2020-2025 term took place.

Speaking at the Decision Announcement Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment sent his congratulations to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet and the school.

“In his new position, I believe that Professor Nguyen Trung Viet, together with the Board of Directors and all staff and lecturers, will promote the spirit of solidarity, innovation and creativity,” said the Deputy Minister.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment also requested the new principal and the school to always maintain solidarity, promote democracy, improve discipline and order; build a safe, innovative and creative working, teaching and learning environment; take people as the center and the team as the foundation for sustainable development. At the same time, strongly innovate the training program, link it with production practices and social needs; build new training majors, anticipate the development requirements of the green economy, digital economy and climate change adaptation. Improve the quality of science and technology, connect research with production, effectively apply technical advances in irrigation, resources, environment and smart agriculture, promote technology transfer activities to serve production and life.

Speaking at the ceremony, the new principal of the University of Water Resources, Nguyen Trung Viet, affirmed that under the direction of the Party Committee and supervision of the University Council, he and the Board of Directors and the entire school will synchronously implement strategic orientations, focusing on developing core values.

From there, realize the vision of becoming a leading research-oriented university in the fields of water resources, environment, construction, disaster prevention and digital transformation in agriculture with the spirit of innovation - creativity - flexible adaptation - sustainable development.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet was born in 1974 in Vinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province. In 1993, he was admitted to the University of Water Resources, majoring in Hydraulic Construction Engineering.

After graduating, he was retained at the school to teach and conduct scientific research. After completing his PhD program at Tohoku University (Japan), he continued to work as a manager and lecturer at the University of Water Resources.

He was recognized as Associate Professor of Irrigation in 2010 and Professor of Irrigation in 2018.

He was a Ministry-level emulation fighter in the 2013-2014 school year; received a certificate of merit from the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the 2017-2020 school year and a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister in 2015.
