Project overview and investment scale
The investment project to upgrade and expand Road 70, from Trinh Van Bo Street to the end of Nam Tu Liem District, was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in Decision No. 1438/QD-UBND dated March 15, 2024. Previously, the project investment policy was approved by the City People's Council in Resolution No. 22/NQ-HDND dated September 12, 2022.
The total investment of the project is up to nearly 3,400 billion VND. Of which, the cost for compensation, support and resettlement accounts for the majority, with more than 2,000 billion VND. The completed route will be about 4.95 km long, with a cross-section widened from 40-50 m.

Synchronized infrastructure and regional connectivity
The project not only widens the road surface but also synchronously builds important technical infrastructure items. These items include a railway overpass, rainwater and wastewater drainage systems, public lighting systems, trees and other underground technical infrastructure works.
When put into operation, the upgraded Route 70 will create a vital traffic axis, directly connecting areas with high urbanization rates such as Tay Mo, Xuan Phuong with Ha Dong district, contributing to relieving traffic pressure and promoting socio -economic development for the west of the city.
Site clearance and resettlement work
To implement the project, in Tay Mo ward alone, the authorities will reclaim nearly 6.5 hectares of land. This area includes residential land of about 160 households, agricultural land of about 70 households, and a part of public works land. In addition, the project also affects about 250 graves that need to be moved.
According to the Director of the Tay Mo Ward Infrastructure Investment Management Board, up to now, most of the households subject to clearance have made declarations. Some cases that are still stuck are being further mobilized, explained and discussed by the local authorities to find a solution.
Resettlement arrangement plan
Regarding the resettlement plan, households whose land is recovered will be relocated to a number of locations in the old Nam Tu Liem district. Priority areas include:
- 4.3 hectare land in Tay Mo ward.
- 37.7 ha land in Xuan Phuong ward.
- Resettlement areas DD1, TT5 or apartments in Kieu Mai.
