On August 1, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade organized a ceremony to award the Certificate of Center for Creative Design, Introduction, Promotion and Sales of OCOP Products, Craft Villages Associated with Tourism in Phu Nghia Commune, Chuong My District, Hanoi City.
The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has issued Decision No. 717/QD-SCT on recognizing the model of the Center for Creative Design, Introduction, Promotion and Sales of OCOP Products, Craft Villages Associated with Tourism at the commune level in 2023. Accordingly, the Center for Creative Design, Introduction, Promotion and Sales of OCOP Products, Craft Villages Associated with Tourism in Phu Nghia Commune, Chuong My District, Hanoi City is one of 10 centers meeting the 3-star criteria of Hanoi City.
Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade proposed that the People's Committee of Chuong My district and Phu Nghia commune continue to support the development of the Creative Design Center, introducing, promoting and selling OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in Phu Nghia commune, Chuong My district to create an environment for connecting artisans, young design teams with entrepreneurial spirit, promoting local cultural advantages, and the economic development aspirations of the community in craft villages in the district.

The traditional craft of bamboo and rattan weaving in Phu Nghia commune has a long history, preserved and maintained through many generations of people in Phu Nghia. In recent years, the bamboo and rattan weaving craft in Phu Nghia has developed strongly. Products not only serve domestic needs but are also exported abroad. Phu Nghia bamboo and rattan products have diverse designs, including baskets, trays, hats, interior decorations, and many other handicrafts.
According to statistics, Phu Nghia commune currently has 7 villages engaged in bamboo and rattan weaving with 90% of households participating, of which 3 villages are recognized as craft villages (Phu Vinh, Quan Cham, Khe Than). In addition, the bamboo and rattan weaving profession is also developing rapidly in villages/communes such as Dong Tru, Ninh So, Bang So, Phu Tuc, Phu Xuyen, Quang Phu Cau. The bamboo and rattan weaving profession is bringing stable income to many households in Phu Nghia commune.
The recognition of the model of the Center for creative design, introduction, promotion and sale of OCOP products, craft villages associated with tourism in Phu Nghia commune is an important driving force to promote production and develop product brands in the bamboo and rattan craft village; at the same time, contributing to the preservation and development of traditional culture, preserving the typical cultural values of the Northern Delta region./.
