Hanoi conducts safety drills for 'Hanoi Convention' event

Hanoi rehearsed plans to ensure security, order and traffic safety for the signing ceremony of the United Nations' 'Hanoi Convention', an event expected to have the participation of about 40 delegations of heads of state.

Traffic police, commune-level police and military forces simultaneously conducted drills at intersections on the route according to plan.

On the morning of October 23, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police deployed a drill to ensure traffic order and safety in service of the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention).

From early on, functional forces including Traffic Police, Commune Police and military forces were simultaneously deployed at intersections on the route according to the plan. In addition to ensuring absolute safety for the delegations attending the event, Traffic Police maintained forces to regulate traffic to ensure traffic order and safety for people traveling.

Directly commanding the Traffic Police force this morning, Colonel Tran Dinh Nghia, Head of the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police, said: “This is an international event of global significance, chosen for the first time by the United Nations to be held in Vietnam, affirming the role, prestige and increasing position of our country in the international arena. Given the special significance and importance of this special event, the Traffic Police Department has proactively developed and implemented a comprehensive plan, mobilizing maximum forces and means to participate in ensuring security and safety, with the highest goal of ensuring absolute safety for the activities of Party and State leaders, international delegations and delegates attending, while maintaining order, safety and smooth traffic throughout the capital."

According to the schedule, the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention at the National Convention Center (Tu Liem Ward, Hanoi) will take place from October 25-26, 2025 with many State-level activities. It is expected that about 40 delegations of heads of state and international organizations will attend this event.

The Patrol Police Team, Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police guided the delegations inside the National Convention Center.

The task of guiding the delegation and ensuring traffic order and safety was seriously and properly implemented by the Traffic Police Department. In addition to the task of welcoming and guiding the delegations, the Traffic Police force increased patrols and controls on the routes around the Hanoi Convention Opening Ceremony and the accommodation of the delegates, strictly handling violations that lead to accidents and traffic jams./.
