Imprints from the event… given by heaven
October 24, 1995 left an unforgettable mark on the tourism industry of Binh Thuan in the past, when the event that attracted the attention of the whole world took place in Phan Thiet - the coastal area of the South Central Coast that still retains its wild beauty and is full of sunshine and wind.
It is a rare natural phenomenon of total solar eclipse, attracting many tourists and investors from all over to come and admire as well as explore for the first time the poetic sea with green coconut trees, many long sandy beaches... Not long after, the potential here was gradually awakened and opened up clear opportunities for local tourism , although "born later", but still made great strides.
From here, the milestone of October 24, 1995 was chosen as the birthday of Binh Thuan tourism industry, starting the journey to become a "bright spot" on the Vietnam tourism map. Because only a short time later - that is, the early years of the 21st century, experts were surprised and recognized that on the S-shaped strip of land, no locality welcomed the booming wave of tourism investment like this place...
With a 192 km long coastline, the blue sea destination of Lam Dong at that time attracted a series of investment projects to serve the development of the "smokeless industry". Not only concentrated in Phan Thiet with the key tourist route Ham Tien - Mui Ne, known as the first "resort capital" in Vietnam, but also spread to most of the coastal districts and towns in the province.

Through its fledgling beginnings, the local tourism industry has also made efforts to build the Mui Ne - Phan Thiet brand and the image of a prominent destination with "Blue Sea - White Sand - Golden Sunshine". Continuing to selectively invite strategic investors to effectively exploit the huge tourism potential with the strengths of high-class resorts, recreational sports on the sea - on sand dunes, golf and other attractive types of experiential tourism...
With its strong development, the blue sea area of Lam Dong not only affirms itself as an emerging destination, but also confidently coordinates to successfully organize many national and international events. These include: PWA Mui Ne World Cup Windsurfing Competition - Vietnam, Mui Ne International Sailing Festival - Vietnam, 1st Vietnam International Hot Air Balloon Festival, Miss Earth World Competition...

In particular, the locality was honored to host the National Tourism Year 2023 with the theme "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", thereby creating a big buzz and contributing to promoting the image of the destination far and wide. According to the development orientation, the blue sea area of Lam Dong will become a national and international Sea Sports - Tourism Center, and Mui Ne National Tourist Area will become one of the leading destinations in the Asia - Pacific region.
Convergence development in the new stage
Before the province's merger, the Lam Dong Blue Sea area attracted 372 valid tourism projects (including 21 foreign investment projects) with a total registered capital of VND 1,322,338 billion, of which more than 210 projects were in operation. Through review, the tourism industry said that there were nearly 680 accommodation establishments in the area with a total of 20,960 rooms, while the statistics agency recorded that the number of visitors this place welcomed in early summer 2025 exceeded 1 million/month.
In the first half of this year, the blue sea destination of Lam Dong welcomed nearly 5.54 million visitors (up 18.48% over the same period) and achieved revenue of about 15,040 billion VND (up nearly 20%). It is expected that the whole year will strive to attract more than 11 million visitors with total revenue from tourism activities in the area reaching 28,200 billion VND...
With the maturity of 30 years old, the blue sea destination of Lam Dong continues to enter a new phase when converging potentials and advantages to contribute to turning the province's tourism into a high-quality tourism center of the country. Because this land has many famous landscapes such as: Mui Ne flying sand dunes, Suoi Tien, Bau Trang, Mui Ke Ga, Thac Ba, Bay Mau rock beach... and especially the "pearl island" Phu Quy, Cu Lao Cau marine reserve.
Or possessing diverse human resources: Po Sah Inư Cham tower, Duc Thanh School (where Uncle Ho stopped to teach), Van Thuy Tu (with the largest whale skeleton in Southeast Asia), Ta Cu sacred mountain (with a 49-meter long statue of Buddha entering nirvana)... Along with that are many unique traditional festivals, contributing to attracting tourists: Kate Festival of Cham people, Nghinh Ong Quan Thanh Festival of Chinese community, Cau Ngu Festival typical of coastal people, Dinh Thay Thim Festival...

After the merger, Lam Dong province's tourism aims to develop into a spearhead economic sector, building the image of a "Green - Unique - Friendly - Creative" destination.
At the same time, strive to turn Lam Dong province into a center of eco-tourism, high-class resorts, diverse culture - experiences, harmoniously connecting the sea - forest - plateau with unique and attractive national and international levels... However, in the immediate future, the whole industry will strive to complete the basic targets in 2025. That is, attracting over 23 million visitors to visit and relax (of which international visitors will reach 1.3 million) and total revenue from tourism activities of about 46,000 billion VND.
Thanks to the convergence of many famous landmarks such as: Da Lat, Bao Loc, Phan Thiet, Mui Ne, Phu Quy, Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, Ta Dung Lake... Lam Dong province also aims to build an integrated tourism ecosystem "Plateau - Sea - Geology" with the leading competitiveness in Southeast Asia...
