That information was given at the seventh meeting of the Steering Committee for Management of Organizational Structure and Staffing of Hanoi City, which took place on March 28.

Since 2017, Hanoi City has decided to completely stop the service business of floating houses and yachts on West Lake. Yachts from the West Lake wharf area (from No. 2 to No. 10 Nguyen Dinh Thi Street) must move to the assembly location at Dam Bay, Nhat Tan Ward.
The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee directed that the resumption of cruise ships should not be considered yet and requested relevant units to focus on removing all remaining old ships to ensure the landscape and environment of the West Lake area.
"If we consider this in the future, we must consider all aspects very carefully, especially ensuring long-term, sustainable water environment and preserving the ecology of West Lake," said the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
Previously, as reported, the Draft Regulations on West Lake Management were in the process of being drafted and developed, and during peak times, there were 14 enterprises participating in the management and exploitation of inland waterway ports, using up to 147 inland waterway vehicles for business services, tourism , entertainment... on West Lake.
However, these vehicles and facilities not only do not ensure operating conditions according to regulations such as fire prevention and fighting; vehicle inspection, but many large-sized vehicles and floating houses also regularly discharge waste, causing serious pollution to the water environment of West Lake, causing mass fish deaths...
According to the Tay Ho District People's Committee, to date, 143/147 violating vessels have been removed from West Lake. Tay Ho District is working with relevant departments and agencies to resolve the remaining 4 violating vessels to completely handle them, returning the water surface landscape and environment to West Lake.
In early 2017, Hanoi City directed to stop all business activities within the management scope of West Lake; determine the location and move ships, boats, and floating vehicles to the assembly location; develop a plan to dismantle and completely relocate vehicles out of West Lake.
