Tripadvisor users consider Hanoi one of the top destinations in Southeast Asia, surpassing Bangkok.
Tripadvisor, the world-famous travel review platform, has just announced the Travelers' Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2023 rankings. Hanoi ranked 17th in the list of most popular cities with tourists , alongside two other Southeast Asian destinations: Bali (Indonesia) - ranked second and Phuket (Thailand) - ranked 16th. Bangkok ranked 22nd on the list.
Tripadvisor describes Hanoi as a "capital of long standing charm" with many preserved ancient architectures, alongside the development of modern society. Monuments such as President Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum, Hoa Lo prison and lakes, parks, temples and pagodas add to the city's appeal. Visitors can easily explore the city by taxi.
Hanoi was also named in the "Best Culinary Destination" category at number 3. Popular culinary destinations in Hanoi with Tripadvisor users include Huong Lien vermicelli with grilled pork, Giang coffee, Thang Long fish cake, and Ly Quoc Su pho.

In the category "Trending Destinations", Vietnam contributed two names including Hoi An (Quang Nam) - ranked 2nd and Ho Chi Minh City - ranked 11th. Hoi An is described by this travel platform as a stopover for backpackers. When coming here, visitors should experience tailor-made services from professional tailors in the old town.
Ho Chi Minh City is known as the busiest city in Vietnam. Tripadvisor suggests a city tour by taxi, passing by the War Remnants Museum, Jade Emperor Pagoda, bustling Ben Thanh Market and culinary experiences.
Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards are an annual awards show voted on by Tripadvisor travelers. The results are based on the number of opinions and reviews from the user community in one year. Of the 8 million listings that appear on Tripadvisor, less than 1% are awarded Best of The Best, representing excellence in the travel industry.
