Hanoi and Colombia open up cooperation opportunities in many fields

Thanking Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh for taking the time to meet her, Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Florez said that today's meeting will open up new opportunities for the two sides to share and cooperate in many fields in the future. The Colombian Ambassador expressed her admiration for a "green - clean - beautiful" Hanoi with good security and wished to exchange experiences with Hanoi in this field.

Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Flórez said that the Colombian Congress recently passed a law on environmental protection and building a “green - clean - beautiful” urban landscape. In the near future, Colombia will coordinate with countries in the region to develop sustainable growth and green growth. The Colombian Ambassador also suggested that Hanoi could receive some trees from the South American country in tree planting activities to promote friendly cooperation between localities and the two countries of Vietnam and Colombia.

Thanking Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Florez for sharing and suggestions, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh informed that Hanoi is a city with a long history and is developing rapidly. The capital Hanoi is facing many problems, including urban management and governance as well as areas related to traffic, environment, green tree development, etc. The city is determined to build Hanoi into a modern, smart, and environmentally friendly city by 2045.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee emphasized that the city government focuses on solving the problem of public transport, limiting personal vehicles to protect the environment, building the inner city into a low-emission zone, converting personal vehicles to use green and clean energy; moving production facilities and universities out of the inner city; cleaning rivers, planting more trees...

Comrade Tran Sy Thanh said that Hanoi and Colombia can share and coordinate with each other in the field of sustainable growth. There is still a lot of room for cooperation between the two countries as well as localities. In addition to the fields of investment, trade, and tourism , the city welcomes the promotion of cultural and artistic exchange activities, thereby enhancing understanding and people-to-people exchanges.

In 2023, Hanoi actively coordinated with the Colombian Embassy in Vietnam to organize cultural events, including the cultural event "Colombia Weaves Peace", contributing to raising understanding and strengthening the connection between the two countries. The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested the Ambassador to continue to pay attention, connect and promote cooperation between Bogota and Hanoi in the coming time, on the basis of exploring potential areas and strengths in which the two cities can cooperate.

Comrade Tran Sy Thanh believes that during her term, Ambassador Camila Maria Polo Florez will strongly promote cooperation activities between Hanoi city and the Colombian Embassy to achieve new results.
