In urban areas such as Van Quan urban area (end of Nguyen Khuyen street, intersection with Nguyen Son Ha, Bach Thai Buoi) with an average flood depth of 20 cm, Tay Ho Tay urban area (average flood depth of 15 cm), Resco urban area (average flood depth of about 25 cm), Ciputra urban area (average flood depth of 15 cm), Ecohome1 and Ecohome3 apartments are still deeply flooded, making traffic difficult. In particular, in the above urban areas, many vehicles were flooded due to being left outside the green space and sidewalks, causing great damage to people's property.

Notably, due to the high water level of the Nhue River and slow drainage, many points on the streets are still deeply flooded, making it difficult for vehicles to move, such as: My Dinh - Thien Hien intersection, Le Duc Tho (My Dinh Stadium Square), Duong Dinh Nghe - Nam Trung Yen (behind Keang Nam), Vo Chi Cong (UDIC building), Phu Xa (Phu Xa - Phuc Hoa intersection), Phan Van Truong, Hoa Bang (lane 99), Tran Binh, Thang Long Avenue, Buu - Yen Xa Bridge, Phung Khoang, Trieu Khuc, To Huu (Luong The Vinh - Trung Van), Yen Nghia Bus Station, Quyet Thang, Tay Mo, Dong Thang (Ecohome 1)...

Faced with that situation, Director of the Hanoi City Technical Infrastructure Management Center Nguyen Duc Hung said that the Center has been requesting the forces and means of drainage maintenance units to continue to organize according to the on-call plan, focus on cleaning, checking and clearing to ensure clear flow, operating sluice gates and pumping stations to lower the water level on the entire system to respond to rain developments, and regularly update reports in a timely manner according to weather developments.

Along with that, to ensure drainage for the area, Hanoi Drainage Company Limited is continuing to operate drainage pumping stations to lower the water level in the system. For example: Yen So Pumping Station (20/20), old Dong Bong 2 (6/6 pumps), new Dong Bong 2 (3/3 pumps), Dong Bong 1 (14/14 pumps), Co Nhue (4/4 pumps), Phan Van Truong (1/2 pumps), Nguyen Hoang Ton Pumping Station (2 pumps), Resco Pumping Station and Hoa Binh Park stopped operating due to flooding in the pumping station, Dong Tru (3/4 pumps), Da Sy (4/4), Ha Tri (4/4), Mau Luong (4/4 pumps), DPS (2/4), pumps), Tai Trau Lake Pumping Station (2/2 pumps)…. In addition, the Department of Construction has coordinated and contacted the Department of Agriculture and Environment to operate Yen Nghia pumping station (5/10 pumps), Khe Tang (10/10 pumps), Dao Nguyen (18/25 pumps), Cau Sa (11/11 pumps), Cau Nga 3 (6/6 pumps), Cau Nga 1 (stop pumping, water entering the station) to lower the water level of Nhue river to support urban drainage.

According to Deputy General Director of Hanoi Drainage Company Limited Pham Ngoc Toan, the company is continuing to arrange forces and equipment to be on standby at key points to handle flooding; at the same time, operating at maximum capacity the main pumping stations on the system, to lower the water level on the drainage system. The sluice gates operate according to procedures, ensuring safety. In particular, to quickly drain water for flooded areas, Thanh Liet dam opens to support drainage for Nhue River.

The Northern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that on October 8, Hanoi will be cloudy, with occasional showers and thunderstorms during the day, and heavy rain in some places; the rain will decrease at night, with Southeast winds at level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. Accordingly, the Company will continue to deploy on-duty work, handle drainage, and collect garbage at collection stations throughout the management area, open the sluice gates of regulating lakes, and operate pumping stations at maximum capacity to lower the water level in the system according to regulations.
