Modern infrastructure, Vung Tau breaks out to become a new connection center

Not only receiving the opportunity from the merger with Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau is also standing at the threshold of a strong transformation thanks to a modern transport infrastructure system. This is considered a strategic boost, helping the coastal city accelerate development, promote inter-regional connectivity and reach international level.

Expressways shorten journeys, opening wide the door to connectivity

One of the biggest changes is the new highways that open up the door to regional connectivity. If previously, traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau took 2-3 hours due to dependence on Highway 51, in the near future, this journey will be shortened to only about 60 minutes.

Playing a key role in this change is the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, 53.7 km long, with a total investment of more than 17,800 billion VND. The project started construction in 2023 and is expected to open to traffic in 2026. When in operation, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway will help relieve pressure on National Highway 51, while opening a new connection axis between localities in the Southern Key Economic Zone.

Along with that, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is being promoted to be completed soon in 2026. Recently, Ho Chi Minh City has planned to invest nearly 600 billion VND to build an intersection connecting the Southern area with the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway. This expressway will act as a strategic connection between the Southwest - Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai - Vung Tau. At that time, Vung Tau will no longer be a single destination, but will be an important part of the inter-regional transport network.

Cai Mep - Thi Vai Deep Water Port: Gateway to the World

In addition to the advantage of road infrastructure, Vung Tau also benefits from Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port - the "trump card" that helps Vung Tau make a breakthrough in logistics. Cai Mep - Thi Vai belongs to the strategic economic corridor of Moc Bai - Ho Chi Minh City - Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, directly connected to the trans-Asia shipping route. Along with Cat Lai port in Ho Chi Minh City, Cai Mep - Thi Vai port handles more than 50% of the country's import and export goods. This is also the only port in Vietnam that can receive ships with a capacity of over 200,000 tons, going directly to Europe and the US, without the need for transit.

Currently, Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port is among the 50 largest container ports in the world. In the future, Cai Mep - Thi Vai is expected to be upgraded to become the largest international transit port in the country, aiming to be in the Top 20 in the world by 2030. This modern seaport will attract FDI capital, creating a boost for the industry, leading to a great demand for housing, commercial infrastructure and services.

The "golden" trade axis of aviation - maritime - tourism

The next lever is Long Thanh International Airport, only about 60 km from Vung Tau (equivalent to 40 minutes of travel when the infrastructure system is completed). This national key project is accelerating progress to complete phase I in 2026. With a capacity of 25 million passengers/year in the first phase and expected to reach 100 million passengers/year when completed, Long Thanh will become the largest air transit point in Southeast Asia.

The Long Thanh - Cai Mep - Vung Tau aviation and maritime axis will form a "diamond triangle" of trade and tourism, bringing unparalleled advantages to the coastal city. This connection will create a "golden" aviation - maritime - tourism trade axis, helping the city not only welcome domestic visitors, but also open its doors to international visitors.

Although still in the proposal stage, the 132 km Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway line is also attracting attention. Starting at Trang Bom station (Dong Nai), ending at Vung Tau station (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), this railway line is expected to be designed with a passenger train speed of about 160 km/h, freight train speed of 120 km/h, and will be deployed in the 2025-2027 period. The railway line not only creates a new traffic axis, but also promises to open up a breakthrough in logistics infrastructure and multimodal transport in the Southeast region.

Launch pad for billion dollar tourist cities

Along with the infrastructure breakthrough in Vung Tau, Blanca City - the white city by the ocean, has emerged as a worthy investment destination, the most expected in the South with impressive planning and advantages from Vung Tau's golden infrastructure axis. This is a model urban project, worth 37,000 billion VND invested by Sun Group.

Located right on the main road 3 - 2 and the center of Bai Sau beach, the project owns a prime 2-frontage location, and is also the only remaining long-term seafront land fund in Vung Tau. Blanca City is built to become an All-in-one model coastal urban area, an international urban living - resort - entertainment complex, including 5 functional subdivisions: high-rise apartments (apartments), low-rise villas, retail complex, condotel, hotel, water park. It is expected to form a chain of high-class hotels operated by international brands, filling the gap of high-class accommodation in Vung Tau.

In particular, Sun World Vung Tau water park is considered the entertainment "heart" of the project. With a scale of 19 hectares, 21 top water games, many of which appear for the first time in Southeast Asia, Sun World Vung Tau is designed as a cultural discovery journey across lands - eras, each subdivision carries an attractive cultural - historical story. When the multimodal transport infrastructure is completed, Blanca City will not only be the focal point of connection, but also a symbol of the new era - a modern, dynamic Vung Tau ready for global integration.

According to experts, when the transport infrastructure develops synchronously, urban areas with strategic locations such as Vung Tau will experience strong growth. In addition to the role of an ideal "weekend living room" for more than 20 million residents of the Southeast region, Vung Tau is gradually affirming its position as a marine economic center, a gateway for international trade and tourism. Along with the policy of merging Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau into Ho Chi Minh City to form a megacity of 14 million people, the position of the coastal city will continue to be strongly enhanced.

With the infrastructure boost and the attraction of investment from tourism giants such as Sun Group, Vung Tau, a coastal city with a traditional role in oil and gas exploitation and domestic tourism, is facing the opportunity to transform itself, establishing a strategic position on the map of marine economy, logistics and international tourism. A “golden era” opens for this coastal city, with a proactive attitude of integration and aspiration to reach far.
