Ha Tinh gets additional power capacity thanks to adjustment of Power Plan VIII

(Baohatinh.vn) - The Government's approval of the adjustment to the VIII Power Plan opens up opportunities for development in terms of power source and grid scale, increasing power production capacity and promoting Ha Tinh's economic growth.

On April 15, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 768/QD-TTg approving the adjustment of the VIII Power Plan. The Decision is not simply a diagram of power plants and transmission stations, but the crystallization of strategic thinking, linking power development with national development. With a long-term vision, the adjustment of the VIII Power Plan opens up a strategic direction, shaping the renewable energy and high-tech ecosystem in Vietnam.

The Government's approval of the adjustment of the 8th Power Plan opens up opportunities for development in terms of power source scale, grid, and increased power production capacity in Ha Tinh .

Adjusting the Power Plan VIII specifically allocates the additional capacity of each locality compared to the previously approved Power Plan VIII Implementation Plan. Mr. Tran Van Nhuong - Deputy Head of Energy Management Department (Ha Tinh Department of Industry and Trade) said: According to the Adjustment of Power Plan VIII for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Ha Tinh is allocated additional capacity for each type of electricity.

Specifically: in the 2025 - 2030 period, onshore nearshore wind power in Ha Tinh will increase by 1,605MW; concentrated solar power will increase by 1,776MW (of which the 2025-2030 period will increase by 440MW and the 2031-2035 period will increase by 1,336MW); rooftop solar power will increase by 381MW (of which the 2025-2030 period will increase by 313MW and the 2031-2035 period will increase by 68MW).

At the same time, in the period of 2025 - 2030, Ha Tinh is allocated to increase small hydropower with a capacity of 24.69 MW, pumped storage hydropower by 704.5 MW; biomass power by 14 MW (period 2025 - 20230) and 1 MW (period 2031 - 2035); LNG gas thermal power in the period of 2031-2035 increases by 1,500 MW.

In 2025, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant (Vung Ang Economic Zone) is expected to produce 6.5 billion kWh.

The adjustment of Power Plan VIII plays an important role, creating a basis for Ha Tinh to increase the scale of power sources and grids, increase electricity production capacity in the area, contribute to promoting economic growth and ensuring national energy security.

Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is presiding over and coordinating with relevant ministries, branches, localities and units to research and advise the Government to issue a Plan to implement the Adjustment of Power Planning VIII.

Cam Hoa Solar Power Plant (Cam Xuyen) has a capacity of 50 MW.

In the coming time, based on the Plan for implementing the Adjustment of the VIII Power Plan issued by the Government, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ha Tinh will preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, localities, and units to advise the Provincial People's Committee on the tasks and solutions to implement the Adjustment of the VIII Power Plan assigned by the Government to the province.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Ha Tinh currently has three types of electricity production: thermal power, hydropower and solar power with an annual output of nearly 10 billion kWh.
