Since the beginning of 2023, many projects to expand the clean water network have been and are being implemented by Huong Son district. "In just a few months, my family will have clean water when the level 1 pipeline system of Huong Son Water Supply Branch passing through the village is put into use. The family only spends 2.5 - 3 million VND to buy small plastic pipes to connect to the house to use tap water for daily activities" - Mr. Hoang Xuan Hung, Ho Sen village, Son Trung commune happily said.
Sharing the joy of soon being able to use clean tap water, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu (Thanh Bang village, Son Bang commune) was also supported by the People's Committee of Son Bang commune with 2.5 million VND to connect from the main water pipe to her house because she is a poor household.
Ms. Thu is one of 58 poor and near-poor households in Son Bang commune who received support for connecting pipelines to their homes from the connection fund called for by the People's Committee of Son Bang commune with an amount of up to 145 million VND.
Mr. Hung and Ms. Thu are households that will soon benefit from the clean water network expansion project that was simultaneously deployed in Son Trung and Son Bang communes on May 17, 2025, with a total amount of 23 billion VND from the capital of the People's Committee of Huong Son district.
This is a project invested by Huong Son district to help the two communes of Son Trung and Son Bang complete criterion 18.1 in building advanced new rural areas. According to calculations, by the end of August 2025, the project will be completed, and there will be an additional 900 households in Son Trung commune and 700 households in Son Bang commune using water from Huong Son Water Supply Branch, bringing the total number of customers in the district to 7,000 households.
Previously, in February 2024, Huong Son district invested nearly 15 billion VND, installing 36.9 km of pipelines of all kinds to help Son Phu and Son Giang communes implement clean water criteria in building advanced new rural areas. Thanks to that, by July 2024, these two communes will complete the clean water criteria, and at the same time meet the advanced new rural standards by the end of 2024.
“In the strategy of expanding the customer network to help communes and towns in Huong Son district reach advanced new rural standards, previously, in 2020, Ha Tinh Water Supply Company invested more than 1 billion VND to increase the capacity of 600m3 of water/day and night at Huong Son Water Supply Branch to 2,600m3 of water/day and night to ensure adequate supply of domestic water when the number of customers increases rapidly” - Director of Huong Son Water Supply Branch, Tran Quoc Tuyet said.
Along with that, Huong Son Water Supply Branch also installed a level 1 pipeline system of more than 10km in TDP 10, TDP 11 (Pho Chau town), TDP 5, TDP 6 (Tay Son town) with a total cost of 2.5 billion VND; expanding the network of 450 customers in Pho Chau town and 350 customers in Tay Son town, contributing to helping these two units complete the criteria of civilized urban areas by December 2024.
Up to now, in addition to the two towns that have completed the criteria for civilized urban areas, Huong Son district has four communes that have achieved advanced new rural status, namely Son Kim 2, Ham Truong, Son Phu, and Son Giang. The two communes of Son Trung and Son Bang will also complete the advanced new rural program by the end of this year.
Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Kieu Hung said: Huong Son is a mountainous area, the distance between localities is quite far, while many areas are isolated, so the investment capital for building centralized water supply facilities requires huge resources, beyond the reach of the communes. Therefore, the expansion of the customer network will continue to be invested in by Huong Son district and Ha Tinh water supply unit, helping localities complete the criteria for advanced new rural areas.
