Travelers arrive in Bali, Indonesia on a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City.
On June 1, Vietnam Airlines launched a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Denpasar (DPS) - the tourist capital of Bali island, Indonesia.
This is the second destination in Indonesia that Vietnam Airlines has established a direct flight route, after the Ho Chi Minh City-Jakarta route.
This is also a strategic step by Vietnam Airlines to expand its flight network in Southeast Asia, while meeting the growing demand of tourists between the two countries.
The first flight, flight number VN641 with 161 passengers, landed at Ngurah Rai-Denpasar International Airport in Bali at 3:00 p.m. on June 1 after a 4-hour, 35-minute flight. Passengers were welcomed at the airport and received souvenirs.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong emphasized that the opening of the Ho Chi Minh City-Denpasar direct flight not only adds a new route, but also symbolizes the connection, trust and growing partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia - two dynamic economies and two close neighbors in Southeast Asia.
According to Tran Tuan Nghia, Head of Vietnam Airlines Branch in Indonesia, it is expected that in the first phase, Vietnam Airlines will operate the Ho Chi Minh City-Bali route with a frequency of 4 round trips per week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. From July 2025, the frequency will be increased to 7 flights/week to meet increasing market demand.
The launch of the Ho Chi Minh City-Bali direct route not only helps Vietnam Airlines expand its flight network in Southeast Asia, but also contributes to effectively exploiting the potential of the passenger market between Vietnam and Indonesia - which is recovering strongly after the pandemic.
Besides serving Vietnamese tourists to Bali, the Ho Chi Minh City-Bali route also plays a strategic role in Vietnam Airlines' international flight network.
With convenient operating hours, this route helps flexibly connect with flights from Europe, Northeast Asia, India and the US, etc., contributing to expanding connectivity, diversifying international passenger travel itineraries and improving the efficiency of Vietnam Airlines' inter-regional flight network./.
