HAGL can introduce new players to U.22 Vietnam
In the match between HAGL and Hai Phong Club in round 20 of V-League, which took place on the afternoon of April 27, central defender Nguyen Van Trieu (22 years old) entered the field in the second half, replacing another young central defender of HAGL, Dinh Quang Kiet (who had cramps). After entering the field to replace Quang Kiet, Nguyen Van Trieu played well, contributing to successfully controlling foreign strikers including Lucao and Fred Friday of Hai Phong, contributing to HAGL's important 1-0 victory over the team from the port city.

The notable point is that both Dinh Quang Kiet (1.95 m) and Nguyen Van Trieu (1.88 m) have very good physiques. This is one of the reasons why these young central defenders compete well with the foreign players of Hai Phong team. With this physique, if Dinh Quang Kiet and Nguyen Van Trieu are called up to the Vietnam U.22 team in the near future, coach Kim Sang-sik's team will become the team with the best physique in Southeast Asia in regional tournaments such as the Southeast Asian U.23 tournament (taking place in July) and the 33rd SEA Games (taking place in December).
Of course, to be called up to the Vietnam U.22 team, HAGL’s young players need to make more efforts in the V-League. The positive signal for these players lies in the fact that HAGL always reserves a place and gives them the opportunity to play whenever they have the chance.
Training in V-League, aiming for SEA Games
With Dinh Quang Kiet, since the time center back Pham Ly Duc was injured a few weeks ago, this 18-year-old player has had an official position at HAGL. As for Nguyen Van Trieu, once he has performed well in the latest round against Hai Phong Club, in the upcoming rounds, the possibility of him being used is very high. The upcoming rounds are the key rounds of the season, the match schedule of the V-League teams is quite dense, so the coaches at each club will need many different personnel options, ready to rotate the squad to avoid injuries to the whole team. Thanks to that, each player will have more opportunities to play.

If Nguyen Van Trieu can play a few more matches in the V-League, his ability and bravery will increase significantly, helping him to be fit enough to wear the U.22 Vietnam team jersey to participate in international tournaments.
Previously, former coach of the Vietnam U.23 team, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, commented: "There is no friendly match or friendly tournament for young players that is more beneficial than official matches in the V-League. If a player in the youth age group has a place to play in the V-League, that player is capable of performing well in the SEA Games taking place this year."
With players including Dinh Quang Kiet, Nguyen Van Trieu, Pham Ly Duc (1.82 m) and goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien (1.91 m), HAGL currently owns the youngest, best-fit and most promising defense in the 22-year-old age group, ready to contribute to Vietnamese football at the U.23 Southeast Asian tournament and the 33rd SEA Games in 2025.
