According to the plan, in the upcoming crop season, Hai Duong strives to plant 52,500 hectares of rice and 9,500 hectares of vegetables.

In rice cultivation, the province allocates 80% of the area for cultivating high-quality rice varieties and 20% for high-yield rice varieties. It strives to build about 9,000 hectares of high-yield and high-quality rice areas, with an average yield of 59 quintals/ha for the whole crop, and an output of 309,750 tons.

Because this year's winter-spring rice crop is harvested 5-7 days later than the average of many years and 7-10 days later than the same period last year, it is forecasted that crop production will be more hectic than the average of many years.

Therefore, the province advocates planting rice varieties with short growing periods, maximizing the area of early-season rice to proactively have land for winter crops, limiting late sowing, avoiding flooding damage due to storms that may occur from late July to early August...

Specifically, strive to plant 25% of early-season tea area, an increase of 8.2% over the same period in 2024; 67% of mid-season tea and 8% of late-season tea, down 8% and 0.2% respectively.

Early season tea uses rice varieties with a growing period of 85 - 105 days, transplanted from June 20 - 30, sown directly from June 25 - 30, harvested before October 5 to plant early winter crops.

Mid-season tea uses varieties with a growing period of 95 - 115 days, transplanted from July 1 - 10, and direct sown from July 1 - 5 (for high-lying rice); uses rice varieties with a growing period of 120 - 130 days, sows seedlings, and transplants from October 5 - 7 (for low-lying rice and low-lying rice).

Late season tea, sowing specialty glutinous rice varieties, sowing medicinal seedlings, transplanting from July 10 - 20.

In this year's crop, Hai Duong has a policy of promoting the conversion of ineffective rice land to vegetable cultivation.

For vegetables, the whole province strives to plant 9,500 hectares, including 6,750 hectares of various vegetables, 1,000 hectares of corn, 500 hectares of starch crops, 1,250 hectares of industrial crops and other crops. Promote the conversion of ineffective rice land to growing vegetables and other crops with high economic efficiency according to market demand.

Support and expand the model of land accumulation for large-scale vegetable production. Expand the area of summer-autumn vegetables to proactively have land for early winter crop planting.

In the 2024 crop, Hai Duong planted 53,413 hectares of rice, exceeding the plan by 0.4%, with an average yield of 53.56 quintals/ha, down 5.44 quintals/ha compared to the plan and down 6.51 quintals/ha compared to the 2023 crop. The province's total rice output was 281,128 tons, down 43,453 tons. The main reason was that Typhoon Yagi damaged many rice areas.

The whole province planted 10,062 hectares of vegetables, exceeding the plan by 5.9%. The summer-autumn vegetable area is mainly concentrated in Kim Thanh, Gia Loc, Tu Ky, Cam Giang, Nam Sach districts and Chi Linh city.
