According to the Customs Department, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department (Customs Department) has recently increased information collection and exchange, coordinated with a number of customs units managing key areas to physically inspect a number of imported and transit shipments with signs of suspected violations of customs laws and has discovered many violations.

Notably, on May 13, Anti-smuggling Control Team No. 3 (Anti-smuggling Investigation Department) presided over and coordinated with Saigon Port Customs Area 1 (Customs Department Area II) to inspect a shipment contained in a 40-foot container numbered HPPU9007070 registered by KTĐ Company Limited.
According to the declaration, the goods were men's shoes, t-shirts, handbags... The value of the goods was 24,638.4 USD, total weight 10,920 kg. At the time of inspection, the enterprise could not present documents, invoices, or certificates related to intellectual property as well as the origin of the goods. The customs agency took samples to determine whether the goods had genuine or fake trademarks.
Initial results concluded that 5 counterfeit branded items, including 990 pairs of MLB branded women's sports shoes; 36 pairs of Hugo Boss branded men's sports shoes; 1,511 Armani Exchange branded T-shirts. The total value of the counterfeit goods was estimated at nearly VND8,127 billion.
Besides, there are 4 genuine products but the enterprise is not on the list of exporters and is not authorized to export and import products with this brand.
The company has not yet presented invoices or documents proving the origin. The total value of the goods is estimated at over VND9,295 billion. The Customs Department is continuing to verify and clarify.
