This week, the Korea Football Association held an enhanced executive committee to evaluate the national team's performance at the 2023 Asian Cup.

" After the Executive Committee evaluates Coach Klinsmann and gives its opinion, the executive department will receive the notification and make the final decision. We need to quickly grasp and proceed with everything ," a senior official of the Korea Football Association (KFA) shared.
Another official revealed that the decision on Klinsmann's future will be made by next week at the latest. Everything needs to be handled urgently. In case Klinsmann is fired, the Korean team must find a replacement soon before the next round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the end of March.
According to Yonhap, Coach Klinsmann's contract includes a compensation clause equivalent to his salary for the remaining 2.5 years. This figure is about 4.5 million USD (110 billion VND), equivalent to 3.7% of the 2024 budget of the Korea Football Association.
Chung Mong-gyu, president of the Korea Football Association, will make the final decision. Chung plans to run for the presidency next year. Therefore, the performance of the Korean team under coach Klinsmann will have a big impact on the votes.
