Thu Duc City is one of the areas with strong growth in the real estate sector in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides the magnificent constructions, the "million dollar" villas in Dong Tang Long Urban Area (Truong Thanh Ward, Thu Duc City) are abandoned, without a single person.
According to Dan Tri reporters, hundreds of villas here are uninhabited, many items are degraded, and overgrown with grass, creating a desolate, gloomy scene.
The Dong Tang Long Urban Area Project started construction in 2005, with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUD) as the investor. However, after many years of completion, this area is still in a state of disrepair, with many abandoned and degraded villas.
Some houses were completed but have not found owners for many years.
Many villas have seriously degraded, and because there are no buyers, some are rented out to construction workers in the area.
Mr. Phan Van Toan (59 years old, Thu Duc City) shared: "Every day I come here to cut grass and clean up. However, only in the area outside the traffic road and in the landscape area. If anyone needs it inside the house, I will do it but very little."

Inside this project area, there are dozens of large and small trading floors, displaying a series of signs advertising land for sale and project planning. However, the buying and selling pace remains quiet.
In addition, some houses are still unfinished and show no signs of continued construction.
The project is planned to have a scale of nearly 160 hectares with many subdivisions with different functions such as complex apartments, condominiums, commercial centers, schools, hospitals, entertainment, sports ...
In the planning, the project has a 7-hectare lake that has been formed, inside there will be a marina for yachts. However, many landscape items are still not completed.
A house cuts across the road in the project area due to the lack of agreement on compensation.
The main roads have been built with lighting systems, trees, and sidewalks, but the scene here is always gloomy and deserted.
There are many advertisements and for sale signs appearing on villas and townhouses. Accordingly, land plots in the project are being advertised for sale at prices from 6 billion VND/plot (100-160m2), townhouses from 7 billion VND/unit, shophouses from 10 billion VND/unit, villas from 15-27 billion VND/unit (area from 200-400m2).
According to residents living here, because the area is far from the center, many people are still hesitant. This situation affects the real estate value in the area as well as the sustainable development of the community.
