As of 5:30 p.m. on May 14, traffic congestion was still occurring at Cha Lo International Border Gate, with only traffic from Vietnam to Laos being cleared, while traffic from Laos to Vietnam was still congested.

Tình trạng ùn ứ kéo dài từ Quốc lộ 12A qua cửa khẩu Quốc tế Cha Lo đến cửa khẩu Naphao, tỉnh Khăm Muộn, Lào.

Traffic congestion lasted from National Highway 12A through Cha Lo International Border Gate to Naphao Border Gate, Khammouane Province, Laos.

The traffic jam occurred around the morning of May 14 on National Highway 12A, on the road connecting Cha Lo International Border Gate (Dan Hoa Commune, Minh Hoa District, Quang Binh ) to Naphao Border Gate (Kham Muon Province, Laos), about 2km long.

In the above area, hundreds of vehicles such as containers, trucks, cars... are congested, lining up to go through customs procedures, stretching nearly 2km.

Many drivers said they had been waiting since dawn but by mid-afternoon they still had not been able to move. Due to the prolonged traffic jam, many drivers had to call locals to have their meals delivered to their cars. Some people took the opportunity to rest on the side of the road and wait for the situation to improve.

Đến 17h30 ngày 14/5 vẫn xảy ra ùn tắc tại khu vực Cửa khẩu quốc tế Cha Lo.

As of 5:30 p.m. on May 14, traffic congestion still occurred at the Cha Lo International Border Gate area.

Preliminary information shows that the cause of the traffic jam is due to the road on the other side of the border, from Naphao Border Gate to inland Laos, which is seriously degraded. The road surface is peeling and muddy due to the effects of prolonged heavy rain, making traffic through the border gate difficult.

Cha Lo international border gate is one of the main trading points between Vietnam and Laos, especially bustling with import and export activities of goods, especially agricultural products, construction materials, machinery and equipment... On average, every day, hundreds of trucks from the Northern provinces and the Central provinces follow each other through this route to Laos and continue to transport to Thailand.

Authorities continue to regulate, ensure security and order and support drivers to move through this area.
