The first sports event combined with community activities co-organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NAB) will take place on September 9, 2023 at Royal Long An Golf & Villas.
Golf tournaments are appearing more and more in Vietnam following the development trend of sports and in line with the needs of the large number of people who love this sport. Not only are they an opportunity for golfers to compete, demonstrate their level and improve their skills, professional and grassroots tournaments also provide opportunities for players to exchange, connect, contribute to the development of golf achievements in the domestic and international arenas and, in addition, actively participate in community building activities.
The "I Love Vietnam" Golf Tournament is an event jointly organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (NAB) on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

In addition to creating a playground for amateur golfers, the tournament is also a fundraising activity for the program "Pride of the National Flag" chaired by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh - former Politburo member, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government - and the program "Scholarship to support ethnic minority and poor students" founded by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh and managed and operated by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper.
Mr. Bui Thanh Liem, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee, said that the I Love Vietnam Golf Tournament was held at Royal Long An Golf & Villas on September 9. Among the 144 golfers competing in the tournament were athletes who were former leaders of the Party and State; leaders and former leaders of Long An province; leaders of businesses and press and radio agencies.
The "I Love Vietnam" Golf Tournament will be played in the format of 18-hole Handicap direct stroke play, with players divided into 3 different groups according to their official handicaps. The final prizes are rich, diverse and valuable, promising to create exciting competitions.
Royal Long An Golf & Villas was designed by legendary golfer Sir Nick Faldo. This is a new golf course in the Southern region, rated as having extremely impressive and challenging greens, a new destination not to be missed for golf enthusiasts who love to experience. Royal Long An Golf & Villas is a 27-hole international standard golf course project combining high-class resorts and many future entertainment activities. Currently, the course has completed phase 1 with 18 holes in operation, expected to open in November 2023.

Royal Long An Golf & Villas takes full advantage of the natural beauty of Duc Hue district, Long An province. The course covers an area of over 124 hectares, about 50km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. Blending with the vast space and the typical terrain of the locality, the harmony in the arrangement of golf holes interwoven with river and lake terrain creates a very unique feature for Royal Long An Golf & Villas, along with the thoughtful and dedicated assistance of a team of experienced caddies.
The fairway is designed with Celebration Bermuda grass, one of the favorite grasses for fairways to create better approach shots. The fairway is wide with many sand traps and surrounding lakes, so choosing a target for the ball to lie firmly is a challenge for every golfer.

Competitions at Royal Long An Golf & Villas
In 2019, the Lao Dong Newspaper launched the program "One million national flags with fishermen at sea". In September 2022, on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the implementation and surpassing the milestone of one million flags, the program was renamed "Proud of the National Flag" with 3 components: "A million national flags with fishermen at sea", "Flags of the National Border" and "Flag Road of the National Flag".
With the message of arousing national pride, all people join hands to protect the country's sovereignty, the program has received deep attention and enthusiastic participation from many senior leaders, many central and local departments and branches, and businesses wholeheartedly serving the community.
Over the past four years, the program has traveled to many remote areas of the country to present national flags to fishermen in 28 coastal provinces and cities across the country.
In the component "Flag of the Fatherland in the border areas", the program also had many meaningful activities, organized dozens of visits, presented tens of thousands of flags, scholarships, photos of President Ho Chi Minh and meaningful gifts to ethnic people in the provinces with land borders.
At the same time, the "National Flag Road" component has covered hundreds of routes to relic sites and special historical and cultural sites of provinces and cities nationwide with bright red flags, such as the route to the Dong Loc T-junction Historical Site (Ha Tinh), the temple at Truong Son Martyrs' Cemetery (Quang Tri), the Long Khot National Relic Site (Long An), etc., contributing to educating revolutionary traditions and enhancing national pride for local youth union members and youth.
To date, the Lao Dong Newspaper has organized more than 280 events nationwide, presenting and signing contracts to present 1,884,120 national flags to people in provinces and cities nationwide. Of these, 1,176,370 flags from the "Millions of National Flags with Fishermen at Sea" component were presented to fishermen in 28 coastal provinces and cities; 346,350 flags from the "Frontier National Flag" component were presented to 25 provinces with land borders and 361,400 flags from the "National Flag Road" component were presented to organize 500 flag routes in 37 provinces and cities.
The program "Scholarship to support ethnic minority and poor students" is chaired by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh - former member of the Politburo, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government - as honorary chairman, the predecessor is the "Fund to support ethnic minority and poor students" established by the People's Police Newspaper in 2007.
In January 2022, with the consent of Mr. Truong Hoa Binh and the fund management board, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper took over the management, operation and renamed the fund to the "Scholarship Program to support ethnic minority students and poor students" to suit the social work activities of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper in the current period.
The program has always received enthusiastic support from philanthropists and businesses. As of July 2023, the program has awarded more than 9.6 billion VND, helping tens of thousands of students across the country to confidently go to school.
