In the second set, the game suddenly turned around. The Indian player started explosively with a series of 6 consecutive points, making Thuy Linh confused in defense. Despite her efforts to adjust the tempo of the match and shorten the score to 12-14, Linh still let her opponent take advantage of the opportunity, tying the score with a 21-14 victory.

Entering the deciding set, Thuy Linh quickly regained her composure and led 6-3 and then 13-6. Although her opponent fought back to shorten the gap to 12-16, Linh still maintained the necessary coolness. The climax came when the Vietnamese player continuously sent the shuttlecock deep to the back of the court and suddenly alternated with two tricky cross-string smashes. On the second smash, the Indian player could not defend, angrily smashed his racket and was warned by the referee, losing two valuable points, helping Thuy Linh rise to 18-12.

Taking advantage of her opponent's down mood, Thuy Linh ended the match with a 21-15 victory, thereby earning the right to continue in a worthy manner.

Also today, Nguyen Hai Dang had his first match in the men's singles of the tournament. However, the young Vietnamese player could not advance like his senior.

Hai Dang (world rank 75) lost after 2 sets to world rank 23, Yushi Tanaka.

Entering round 2, Thuy Linh will meet Danish tennis player Line Christophersen (ranked 35th in the world) tomorrow, May 22.
