Hau Giang completes removing temporary and dilapidated houses before May 19, 2025

(Chinhphu.vn) - Hau Giang province is speeding up the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses to help people have safe housing and stabilize their lives, striving to complete before May 19, 2025.

Speaking with the Government Electronic Newspaper, Mr. Vo Chi Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hau Giang province, said: Currently, in the province, the total number of households in the 3 groups receiving housing support is 1,479 households, including 833 newly built households and 646 repaired households (people with meritorious services to the revolution: 420 households, poor households: 553 households, near-poor households: 494 households and poor households receiving housing support under the National Target Program for Socio -economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas: 12 households).

By April 18, 2025, the whole province had started construction of 1,479 houses, reaching a rate of 100%, including 420 houses for people with revolutionary contributions, 12 houses under the National Target Program and 1,047 houses for poor and near-poor households.

Currently, Vi Thanh City, Nga Bay City and Chau Thanh A and Chau Thanh districts have completed the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Localities that have started construction but are in the finalization stage (Long My town: 36 houses, Long My district: 69 houses, Vi Thuy district: 48 houses, Phung Hiep district: 13 houses) are determined to complete the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the management area before May 19, 2025.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment - the standing agency of the Program believes that it is necessary to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the general policy to complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, associated with promoting information and propaganda measures on the purpose, meaning and importance of housing support policies and implementation work in the province.

At the same time, the Steering Committees of districts, towns and cities continue to lead and direct the acceleration of the completion of construction and repair works for housing beneficiaries, ensuring that the set schedule is met and exceeded; strengthen inspection and supervision in localities; grasp the implementation situation, difficulties and problems arising in localities and promptly report to competent authorities for consideration and resolution according to regulations.

Building and repairing 32,000 houses for people

Responding to the Government Electronic Newspaper, Mr. Tran Van Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hau Giang province, said: The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in Hau Giang province have coordinated to implement many effective models, contributing to accelerating the construction progress, bringing solid and safe houses to families of people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, and near-poor households. Up to now, the support from organizations, individuals and family contributions has been 10,958 million VND and 11,796 working days of support...

Many models have brought about practical results, such as the model "Religion participates in building and repairing temporary and dilapidated houses" implemented by the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Luong Nghia commune, Long My district, with the participation of 12 members from different religions in the area.

Or the model implemented by the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hoa Tien commune, Vi Thanh city in coordination with the Youth Union and the Women's Union of the commune, people volunteered to contribute their efforts to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. By April 10, Hoa Tien commune had completed the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area (with 14 houses), helping people have a warm home and a stable life.

Previously, at the launching ceremony of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, Hau Giang Provincial Party Secretary Dong Van Thanh requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and local authorities to pay attention to and monitor the progress of implementation. Continue to promote propaganda, mobilization, spread the sense of responsibility, raise awareness so that the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province truly becomes a movement of the whole society and the whole people, joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, contributing to bringing a better life to the people, becoming a driving force to promote the overall sustainable development of the province.

With resources from the State, businesses, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province, since 2004, Hau Giang province has mobilized and built thousands of gratitude houses for policy families and poor households with housing difficulties; built and repaired 32,000 "Great Solidarity" houses...
