Korean Chamber of Commerce pledges to invest 1.5 billion USD in Hai Phong

At the Hai Phong - Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Conference 2023 taking place in Seoul (Korea) from June 11 to 14, the Hai Phong City delegation led by Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, presented Investment Registration Certificates for newly licensed projects and capital increase adjustments to investors, including: Bumhan Vina Heavy Industries - Nam Dinh Vu Project, Haewon Vina Co., Ltd., Hala Electronics Vina Co., Ltd., EST Vina HaiPhong Co., Ltd. The total investment capital of the above projects reached 230 million USD.

At the same time, at the conference, the Korean Chamber of Commerce signed cooperation agreements with Hai Phong City and committed to investing up to 1.5 billion USD in the coming time.

Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau said that this is an important event in the series of activities of the city's investment promotion delegation in Korea. Mr. Chau continued to commit to strongly improving the investment and business environment in the city, focusing on developing infrastructure, especially regional transport infrastructure projects. At the same time, focusing on accelerating the progress of developing new industrial parks to create large land funds ready to welcome investors and synchronously implementing solutions to improve the efficiency of attracting high-quality labor, creating favorable conditions to support workers, ensuring all stable resources to improve the production and business efficiency of enterprises.

The conference was organized by the Investment Promotion Delegation of Hai Phong City and the Korean International Trade Association (KITA).

The conference attracted more than 150 businesses, investors and investment consulting organizations in Korea to attend, seeking investment opportunities in Hai Phong. Many businesses expressed satisfaction with the city's favorable investment environment and agreed with the city's future development direction as well as support policies, accompanying investors in project implementation.

Currently, South Korea has invested 81.5 billion USD in Vietnam. Of which, in Hai Phong, nearly 10 billion USD (accounting for 12% of the country) is mainly focused on the fields of electronics, auto parts, and machinery.

Accordingly, Korea is the leading country in both the number of projects and investment capital out of a total of 42 countries and territories registered to invest in Hai Phong.
