Effectiveness of the project to innovate product design and packaging

(VLO) Over the past year, the Provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Development Consulting (Center) has actively promoted the implementation of the project to support businesses in designing product packaging. This practical support has helped businesses focus more on investing in innovation in product design and packaging to suit consumer tastes, helping businesses increase revenue, create jobs and stable income for local workers.

Beautiful, quality packaging increases brand recognition

For small and medium-sized businesses, when they first start operating, they face many difficulties, especially capital, which affects the ability to invest in machinery, packaging, product marketing, etc. In which, investing in product packaging is an important step, to help preserve products better, make them more eye-catching and increase brand recognition.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Khang - founder of Foodo Business Household - specializing in producing and processing products from tropical fruits (pineapple 1, Vung Liem Town, Vung Liem District) has encountered some difficulties in the business process.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Khang shared: “Previously, Foodo encountered some difficulties such as unattractive packaging, not attractive to customers, products could not be preserved for long against external factors such as light, air, humidity, ... causing the quality of the products inside to decrease, especially the crispy dried fruit products became soft.

When it reaches the customer, it is no longer crispy, forcing Foodo to recall the product. Recalling the product increases shipping costs, the cost of handling non-crispy products greatly affects Foodo's profits and revenue.

When the Center supported Foodo to hire consultants to design and innovate product packaging with a budget of 33.5 million VND, Foodo's product packaging became more eye-catching, more beautiful, and had both Vietnamese and English, making it easier for products to reach domestic and foreign customers. Having a new, thicker, stronger packaging helps prevent external factors from affecting the product.

Many customers come to Foodo to learn about business cooperation.

When reaching consumers, the product still retains its original flavor and crispness. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Khang excitedly confided: “After receiving support, Foodo has made a big change by expanding its sales points at airports in Vietnam such as Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc and famous tourist destinations in Vietnam such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City. Thereby, helping Foodo increase revenue and profit, while helping to build a more professional image of Foodo”.

In the near future, Foodo will expand its factory and improve product quality by accompanying farmers in cultivation techniques, first in the Cat Num mango area in Vung Liem district. At the same time, Foodo will expand its market to the Central and Northern regions, expanding to modern distribution channels such as supermarkets and online channels.

Accompany and support business development

Immediately after approving the plan to implement local industrial promotion work in 2024, the Center focused on supporting businesses to improve production technology, design product packaging, build product brands and labels, and develop towards commodity production.

During the year, the Center successfully implemented 22 industrial promotion projects. Of which, the project to support rural industrial establishments in designing models and packaging for 7 establishments including: Nhat Ngoc Cake Company Limited, Tuong Linh Business Household, Foodo Business Household, Hiep Ky Business Household, Hoang Gia Herbal Company Limited, Minh Canh Tofu Production Facility Business Household with a budget of nearly 200 million VND.

According to Ms. Lu Thi Hong Ly - Deputy Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting, "Today's goods are increasingly diverse, consumers have more and more product choices, so product packaging is one of the factors to attract and make customers' decisions besides product quality.

Therefore, the Project "Support for hiring consultants to design models and packaging" for establishments, including Foodo, is extremely necessary and practical, helping establishments increase product value, contributing to attracting consumers' choices, and increasing revenue for businesses.

According to Ms. Lu Thi Hong Ly, through the support, it has helped businesses change their thinking and ideas, focus more on promoting products, improving designs and packaging; creating different values ​​compared to similar products on the market; thereby developing production and business, improving the competitiveness of the unit in the integration period.

"Through monitoring, the supported units have promoted the effectiveness of the project, the products brought to the market are increasingly eye-catching, product information is clearer, consumers have become more familiar with Vinh Long OCOP products," said Ms. Lu Thi Hong Ly.

It can be seen that the promotion of consulting activities on product design and packaging for business establishments of the Center has initially brought about very positive results. Through this project, establishments have beautiful, eye-catching, convenient packaging, ensuring food safety, etc., helping to increase product value, increase competitiveness, attract consumers' attention and product characteristics compared to other similar products on the market, while creating stable jobs for local workers; contributing to the socio -economic development of the locality.
