This is according to statistics released by Sports Millions. Since Messi appeared in the US nearly 2 years ago, every match with him has created a fever as fans are willing to pay a lot more money to see Messi live. In some cases, ticket prices have increased more than 10 times.

This trend is especially evident when Messi's team plays against the New York Red Bulls, Columbus Crew or Los Angeles FC... Ticket prices increase from $45 to $496 for games between the New York Red Bulls and Miami. At Columbus Crew games, the average ticket price increases from $35 to $421. Both the Red Bulls and Los Angeles FC generate millions of dollars in additional revenue by hosting games with Inter Miami.

Messi's performance on the field makes fans want to go to the stadium to watch him play.

Sports Millions says Messi's presence across MLS has so far brought in a whopping $84 million, with more than 1 million fans paying sky-high prices to see him play.

To put the Messi effect into perspective, the average American club’s salary bill is just $6 million a year. For many teams, the extra money from ticket sales for Messi’s games is enough to keep them going for an entire season.

“Whether it’s $50 or $750, fans are willing to pay more just to see Messi,” said a Sports Millions spokesperson. “Seeing Messi live is more than just a game. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Clubs recognize this, and fans recognize it. Messi is pretty much the only thing driving ticket sales in the U.S..”

That's why Inter Miami is hoping to extend Messi's contract until 2026, with his contract in its final year. And surely rivals across the United States would love to see that happen, too, as it promises to boost ticket sales.
