Liverpool crushed Tottenham 5-1 in the early morning of April 28. This victory helped Liverpool to leave second-place Arsenal 15 points behind, while the Premier League only had 4 rounds left to finish. That means Liverpool won the English Premier League 4 rounds early.
Arne Slot (46) has become the first Dutch manager to win the Premier League. He is the 10th Liverpool manager to win the competition but the first to do so in his debut season with the club.
Arne Slot has paid tribute to his predecessor Jurgen Klopp for leaving behind a title-winning squad and a culture of hard work. But he also felt a sense of dreaminess after the victory.
"Of course I'm very happy, but to some extent it also feels unreal. You work so hard for this moment to happen and when it happens it feels like a dream," he said.
The win puts Liverpool level with arch-rivals Manchester United on 20. Interestingly, it is their second Premier League title in five years but unlike 2020, when Jurgen Klopp's side won behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their latest triumph was celebrated in front of jubilant fans at Anfield.
Liverpool were unable to hold a trophy parade five years ago due to the pandemic but a major parade will be held in the city on 26 May.
Klopp could be in attendance, having left behind a hugely talented squad that Slot inherited. Slot sang Klopp's name on the pitch after the final whistle as a gesture of gratitude.
