In the first leg of the final match at Hang Day Stadium on May 14, CAHN Club played very well against a top Southeast Asian team like Buriram United. Although the police team led twice (1-0, 2-1), they lost the victory when they were held to a 2-2 draw by the Thai representative. However, this result also created an open and unpredictable situation in the second leg of the final match.
Coach Polking: It's part of football
As expected, the second leg of the final on May 21 at Chang Arena took place in a breathtaking scenario. Under pressure from nearly 30,000 Buriram United fans, Coach Polking's team continued to show a brave and sharp style of play.
In the first half, the away team silenced Chang Arena by scoring two goals to take a 2-0 lead. However, the second half saw a strong comeback from Buriram United. The home team scored two goals to send the match into extra time. In the first extra time, the Thai representative took a 3-2 lead, putting enormous pressure on the Vietnamese team. However, the CAHN players did not give up. The tireless efforts of Quang Hai and his teammates were rewarded with a 3-3 equalizer at the end of the second extra time, thereby sending the match into a lucky penalty shootout.

On the 11m mark, CAHN Club was unlucky when they only successfully executed 2/5 shots. On the other hand, Buriram United players took advantage of the situation better and won 3-2 after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Having missed out on the Southeast Asian Cup C1 championship, coach Mano Polking could not hide his regret with a post on his personal page: " This is a bitter defeat, truly heartbreaking. It is difficult to express my feelings right now. But we know that it is part of the development process, and an inevitable part of football. I am extremely proud of my players. They fought like true warriors, playing fairly against a very strong opponent like Buriram United Club. I really feel sorry for the CAHN players, because I know they deserved a better result. However, now is the time for us to hold our heads high and move forward."
The proud journey of CAHN Club
Although unable to reach the highest podium, CAHN Club's journey at the 2024 - 2025 Southeast Asian Cup C1 has left a deep impression in the hearts of Vietnamese football fans. Competing on par with, and even at times dominating, a strong team like Buriram United Club (Thai League champion for 4 consecutive seasons), is proof of the clear progress in class and spirit of a representative of the V-League playground.
