Coach Polking: 'We had a few moments of lapses in concentration'
Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club) drew 2-2 at Beijing Guoan Stadium in the opening match of AFC Champions League 2, which took place last night (September 18). Coach Alexandre Polking's team took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to Vitao's long-range shot, then let the home team lead 2-1 with defensive mistakes in the first half of the second half.
However, persistent attacking efforts helped CAHN Club hold on to 1 point, thanks to Rogerio Alves' equalizer in the 75th minute. This result temporarily placed CAHN Club in second place, while in the remaining match, Tai Po Club beat MacArthur 2-1 to temporarily occupy the top of the table.

"We deserved 3 points with this performance, but CAHN Club missed the opportunity. 1 point would have helped us compete, but we should have had 3 points. The important thing is that our performance was still very good. We only had a few moments of losing focus in the match," Coach Polking shared.
CAHN Club played better than the home team with 59% possession and 28 shots, but only scored 2 goals. Coach Polking's students lost 2 goals from unnecessary situations, stemming from mistakes of goalkeeper Nguyen Filip.
However, coach Polking emphasized: "I am satisfied with the performance of the players. Our opponents were very strong, but we showed perseverance and good pressing. We controlled the match against Beijing Guoan Club."
Explaining the decision not to register Quang Hai for the opening match of AFC Champions League 2, Mr. Polking emphasized that his student is injured and needs time to recover.
In the second match, CAHN Club meets Tai Po at Hang Day Stadium. The match takes place at 7:15 p.m. on October 2.
