Speaking after the match on the evening of June 10 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, the Australian strategist expressed his emotion: “My players played with great determination, not only for the national flag but also to show gratitude to the families who are experiencing loss. They really fought for something bigger than themselves.”
Malaysia started the game with great enthusiasm, dominating the first half and according to coach Cklamovski, his team should have opened the scoring early. “We had a great first half. The important thing is that the whole team maintained their concentration in the second half,” said the Malaysian captain.
Notably, coach Cklamovski revealed the tactical adjustments at half-time that made the difference: “We showed a short video to analyse the gaps where the opponent’s defence could be exploited. The players agreed: we will score at least one or three goals. And then, they scored four goals.”
Not only effective in tactics, the 46-year-old coach also highly appreciated the team's collective spirit: "Malaysia does not depend on any individual. Even the players coming off the bench had a clear impact. This is a victory of a united collective, not of an optimal squad of 11 names."
Despite the big win, Cklamovski still acknowledged the reality: “Malaysia still has a lot to improve, especially in terms of fitness. Before the match, many people thought we couldn’t run more than Vietnam. But the reality is that the whole team worked tirelessly throughout the official time.”
He also thanked the fans: “The atmosphere at Bukit Jalil is special. The fans give the players energy. The team will continue to maintain this style of play, inspiring the fans through football.”
At the end of the sharing, Coach Cklamovski reaffirmed Malaysia's goal: "From the first day of the team meeting on May 19, we set a goal towards the Asian Cup. Today's victory is a stepping stone and a worthy reward for the efforts and aspirations of the whole team."
