The history of the Vietnamese revolution is written not only by victories on the battlefield, but also by the glorious feats of the communists in prison. In the sacred vein, Con Dao appears as a monument of patriotism and indomitable will against the enemy.
In order to remember the merits and show gratitude to the political prisoners of Con Dao, the National Political Publishing House Truth introduces to readers the book "Ho Chi Minh through the memories of former political prisoners in Con Dao".
The book was selected and collected by a group of authors from a number of articles and memoirs of former political prisoners in Con Dao.
These are epic poems written with the hearts, minds and blood of those who lived, fought and won in the heart of the dungeon, where human bodies were tortured to the point of disability, but their faith and love for the leader of the nation and their will to fight for independence and freedom for the Fatherland were unshakable.
Overcoming hunger, cold, illness, physical torture and mental terror, communist prisoners always had Uncle Ho as a guiding light, supporting their spiritual strength. In the harsh prison, they organized theoretical studies, propagating the revolutionary ideology of the Party and Uncle Ho in secret meetings, under the dim light from the iron door. They passed on to each other reading each of his teachings, reviewing each theoretical lesson to nurture their revolutionary will and spirit.
Through the book, the authors hope that today's young generation will feel the spirit of "living like flowers" of their predecessors - "flowers" that grow among the rocks and gravel of prison but never wither because they always have Uncle Ho in their hearts.
