Accordingly, the program aims to change the awareness of businesses nationwide about digital transformation and to support in-depth training on digital transformation.
Since January 2021, the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment has coordinated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the USAID LinkSME project to focus on developing tools, guidance documents, implementing awareness raising activities and training on digital transformation for businesses. Many tools and training contents have also been digitized by the program, built into videos for easy and convenient access by the entire population and businesses. Specifically, there have been more than 2 million visits to the Program's guidance documents, training videos, and experience sharing on digital transformation; more than 1,600 businesses have self-assessed their digital transformation readiness to have implementation directions; more than 10,000 businesses in 40 localities have received direct training on digital transformation.
The Program's activities have contributed to a marked increase in awareness and investment in digital transformation in businesses. According to the 2022 Annual Report on Digital Transformation of Enterprises by the Department of Enterprise Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment, the results of a survey of 1,000 enterprises showed that in 2022, the number of surveyed enterprises that are implementing digital transformation showed signs of increasing and many enterprises have also allocated specific budgets for this activity, more or less (in 2021, many enterprises are in the stage of learning, researching and consulting information, preparing for digital transformation implementation). This change is mainly due to the maturity in awareness, skills and experience related to digital transformation of the leaders and human resources of the enterprise.
According to the Department of Enterprise Development, the program has organized a series of direct training sessions for the business community in 40 provinces and cities across the country such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Binh Thuan, Gia Lai, Vinh Long... The training series in the provinces and cities has attracted the attention and participation of business owners and managers of departments in enterprises. The main topics include transforming leadership thinking when transforming digitally, redesigning processes, digital transformation of business models, applying digital technology to expand the market, digital transformation in the agricultural value chain, logistics...
The training sessions are held directly for 02 days in the localities. Thereby, businesses are provided with basic and in-depth knowledge, and specific practice with experienced lecturers that the Digital Transformation Enterprise Support Program for the period 2021 - 2025 of the Ministry of Planning and Investment has carefully screened.
The training series has contributed to creating a change in the awareness and actions of small and medium enterprises about digital transformation, helping businesses understand the benefits of applying digital transformation in business and production models. In addition, the training courses have supported connecting organizations, associations, state agencies with experts and local businesses, to help businesses in the process of applying and implementing digital transformation and grasping new information and trends. In particular, there is an orientation to apply digital technology in transforming business models, expanding new sales channels, and reaching new customers. This is a very important activity in the current difficult period when businesses are facing many difficulties in the output market and a shortage of orders.
Ms. Bui Lan, a representative of an agricultural enterprise in Gia Lai province, shared: “Think big, do it for real and act quickly is a saying that I really like through the 2-day training course. Throughout the course, I learned a lot of knowledge such as building a lean business model or applying some software to manage the business more effectively.”
Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Hoang, representative of a mechanical manufacturing enterprise in Quang Ngai province, shared that for small enterprises in Quang Ngai province, digital transformation is still very vague and has no clear roadmap. “My own enterprise has used 2 ERP software but still faces many difficulties in the process of managing work. After the course of the Program, I also have a rough idea of what I need and must prepare for the next steps. I, as well as the enterprises here, hope to continue to receive support from the Program in the process of digital transformation for our enterprises”./.
