Previously, on March 7, implementing the direction of the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ), the Director of the Department of Health of Dak Lak province issued a decision to establish an inspection team to inspect the compliance with food safety regulations for Asia Life Joint Stock Company.

Immediately afterwards, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency (C01) also issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "Production of counterfeit food products and deceiving customers" stipulated in Articles 193 and 198 of the 2015 Penal Code, related to Asia Life Joint Stock Company and Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company and a number of companies, occurring in Ho Chi Minh City and Dak Lak province.

At the same time, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security has issued a decision to prosecute and apply temporary detention measures against the defendants Nguyen Phong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asia Life Joint Stock Company for the crime of "Producing counterfeit food products"; Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (Hang Du Muc), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company; Le Tuan Linh, Director of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company; Pham Quang Linh (Quang Linh Vlogs), shareholder, member of the Board of Directors of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company; Le Thanh Cong, shareholder, member of the Board of Directors of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company, all for the crime of "Deceiving customers".

According to the case, in December 2024, Hao Hau Thuy Tien announced a cooperation to launch a vegetable candy brand with Quang Linh Vlogs and Hang Du Muc. On her personal page with more than 2.6 million followers, Thuy Tien announced "the launch of her brainchild", and at the same time posted promotional posts and appeared on livestreams to sell the product.

Miss Thuy Tien, Hang Du Muc, Quang Linh Vlogs joined forces to advertise, causing many people to misunderstand that the product "can replace green vegetables in meals". Thuy Tien once said that this is a convenient, nutritious product, has many quality certifications, and is suitable for children and adults.

According to the Investigation Police Agency, Miss Thuy Tien contributed 30% of capital to Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company and received profits according to this ratio. By the time the violation was discovered, the company had sold more than 135,000 boxes of Kera candy to more than 30,000 customers.

The investigation agency determined that the raw material for Kera candy, vegetable powder, should have been purchased from the manufacturer's farms according to VietGAP standards, but Phong directed his employees to buy vegetable powder with levels below the standard (only 0.61-0.75%) and then declared it as 28%.

Kera candy also contains sorbitol, which accounts for 35% of the ingredients, along with other additives, but is not disclosed to consumers. Users buy Kera vegetable candy because they believe it is good for digestion and laxatives, as advertised. But in fact, the laxative comes from sorbitol - a type of sugar alcohol that sweetens. These products are spread on the media and social networks with misleading information, for example "one pill replaces a plate of green vegetables".

When consumers complained that the candy had ingredients that were not as advertised and the audience asked for responsibility for the posted content, Thuy Tien deleted the articles related to the product.

On April 4, Thuy Tien was administratively fined 25 million VND for not clearly informing consumers about being sponsored when providing product information as Kera candy on social networking platforms.
