Buon Ma Thuot Airport planning can welcome 5 million passengers/year by 2030

According to the draft of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Buon Ma Thuot Airport is a dual-use domestic airport, used for both civil and military aviation activities, playing an important role in connecting the Central Highlands region with major economic centers of the country.

In the period of 2021 - 2030, Buon Ma Thuot Airport will continue to use the current T1 terminal and renovate it to reach a capacity of about 2 million passengers/year. At the same time, it will plan to build a T2 terminal with a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year, and plan a cargo terminal combined with an aircraft parking lot to the west of the passenger terminal on an area of ​​about 13,100m², with a capacity of 10,000 tons of cargo/year.

In recent years, Buon Ma Thuot Airport has welcomed 1.4 to 1.5 million passengers each year.

By 2050, Buon Ma Thuot Airport will be upgraded to welcome about 7 million passengers/year, reach 15,000 tons of cargo/year, and have 27 aircraft parking positions.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the total planned land area for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050 of Buon Ma Thuot Airport is about 518 hectares, including a shared flight area of ​​more than 267 hectares, a civil aviation area of ​​nearly 140 hectares and a security and defense area of ​​more than 111 hectares.

Buon Ma Thuot Airport currently operates flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Vinh, Hai Phong and Da Nang.
